Disadvantage of solo. I got disconnected on my way to turn in a 3 chapter quest for gold hoarders last night. Lost 4 chests and prob 2 levels be they were 3 Maurader and 1 captains.
Only real complaint I have right now is having to re log to get my levels/gold count to update.
Once I get gold hoarders to about 25 I'm gonna start doing forts.

I’ve enjoyed but man is the sea combat hard. Friends and I were getting worked last night.

I joined a random game b4 I logged and a guy was chasing another sloop. Every time he'd finally turn to where I could shoot he'd drop anchor thinking he was doing something tactical or cool. Completely ruined it and we ran out of ammo eventually. Wasted 30 min of my life and all I was trying to do was get to a hoarder turn in to get my promotion and new shovel.

Carson is just a man that likes to watch the world burn. I've spent many of hours enjoying playing games Carson shat on. to each their own. some people can't understand this concept.
i don't own Sea of Thieves. Have no intention of buying it any time soon unless it comes in a bundle a month from now when I buy an X. But I'm thoroughly enjoying some streamers who are creative and make it fun to watch.

i understand it just fine. reading reviews and accounts from players about how shallow and repetitive it is irks me, and I dont think developers should be rewarded for this type of behavior. way too much of a "ship now, fix later" mentality in games today.

It is getting a ton of bad reviews and multi streamers I follow are shitting on it a lot to be fair. I actually am surprised in the numbers on twitch. I expected a new release with this type of gameplay would have higher numbers..

I think there needs to be more ships per map.
I have gone the past 2 days, maybe played 8 hours in total and probably only seen 5-7 other ships, many of those in bunches.

I'm happy I don't have to worry about getting robbed every time I anchor down and go dig up a treasure. I'm even more happy I don't have to worry about having multiple ships camping at turn in locations just being cunts trying to steal and ruin people's questing.
If you want to find pvp typically you just head towards active forts.

Ultimately though, that's all this game will devolve into. Everything else will get stale, the quests are the same continual thing over, and over, and over. There are no item upgrades, so simply completing those for cosmetics.
The player interactions, the thievery, the jacking someone's boat straight into a rock, or exploding a keg in the hull are what makes this game interesting and not a single player.

It was interesting, I kept looking at some of the upgrades, such as the golden shovel, trying to mouse over the item to see what the difference is or what it does better.... only to find the answer of nothing... Then why a golden shovel!?!?!? Gold is a softer metal in general! It makes no sense!

As of now, those are just cosmetic items.
I thought, in the first beta, that they were upgrades, and actually gave you a better% of what ever the item was? Or not.
Anyone get those skulls. i watched summit, and he and smokey stole a shite load of skulls from a boat of 4 and cashed them in.

So last evening I only had about 45 min to play, I did a quick treasure mission, found a message In a bottle, killed 3 named pirates and was on my way back with 4 chests and 3 skulls with 3 minutes until dinner was ready. Saw a galleon parked in port so thinking great all my shits about to get robbed so I go for a quick anchor and hop out.
Somehow even though I was right next to dock I scraped rocks and by the time I ran to turn in 1 skull and back my sloop sank.
Such a waste of time.
Kinda wish it would update your gold hoarder rep at the end of voyages instead of when you turn the chest.

Wanted to check out this board to see if there was any hype on this game. I’ve only really played FIFA over the past few years but started logging back on live for fortnite to check out the hype. It was fun but then the other night I see the game pass promotion for this game and had to check it out. Got another friend on it and this game is fun as shite. Much better than fortnite imo. I can appreciate what they were trying to achieve with this and knowing that I’ve had a blast sailing around trying to board other ships while they’re on the islands looting, battles, etc.
Have seen more and more ships too which has been great. This game is pretty well done and sure it has some things to improve on but it’s going to pave the way for some next level shite going forward. We’re trying to convince some more friends to join because I’m sure a huge crew would be awesome.

The future is bright, but right now it's too repetitive with little incentive for grinding.

Yes. I mean I'm still getting on to level toward legendary, but I'm treating it as an enjoyable and much needed break from shooters. As long as you don't o in with leveling being your only goal the game is very easy to enjoy.
