I just absolutely love the fun of ruining someone else's day. Many games have lost that lately, with little loss if you die etc.
That was the best part about Tibia for those who played it, the extreme death system.
This game gives me some of that though. Last night we found this dude just rocking it solo, destroyed his boat, we left an incompetent frick on our galleon though, and ole boy ended up using gunpowder keg on our galleon. Lame, both lost ships, he lost about an hour of treasure though.
I wait on the island, wanting my ship to come back so we can plunder these riches, yet again, they are incompetent and can't make it back... Ole boy on the sloop does though. He sails back up, starts reloading. I sneak around the other side of his ship, keg of gunpowder, explode it. As I sit on the ferry of the damned I hear him scream, what the frick, no!!!
I smile :)

I’d really like to see the option to buy Fore and Aft cannon.
Buying upgrades and not just skins.
Maybe a bullet pouch.

doing forts levels you 10x faster than doing voyages, and gets you about 10K gold per haul.

If nobody steals your stuff at a fort. Seems I can only make it out of about 1/4 forts with anything. Usually 3-4 ships are waiting when you finish.
I have found it particularly enjoyable holding a ship hostage with a gunpowder barrel. Go to the hull and keep holding it. If they try and kill you it will blow the gunpowder and sink their ship. Let your teammate steal everything on their ship and sail off and sell it. Once they have, Aloha Snackbar their arse.
I’m thoroughly enjoying this game, but 100% understand why someone wouldn’t. It is a great checkout game for me where me and my friends can just have a good time together and dick around.

Been playing it since closed beta, it's a great game as is and it's only going to get better.

Just finished playing about 15 hours. Some observations.
It’s totally changed my mind on MMOs. I’d never really played big online before, and when I did it was only Battlefield 1 which was a different experience.
On SoT i’m Telling jokes and putting my personality forward, seizing control of a crew, charming ladies. It’s exhilarating. I see the draw of them, questing and raiding with people you don’t really “know”, how you can develop a rapport.
On the skull forts.: my galleon crew and I found one, and went back and forth with another crew for about an hour. Sinking each other, deploying different strategies, etc. it was going nowhere.
Finally, they happened to blow me off of my place at the helm and directly under their ship, where I could make out one of their crew member’s names.
I swam under the ship and hid. And frantically messaged the player. Basically explained that A: we could continue to sink and hunt each other for hours and not get anywhere on the fort, or B: stop killing each other and tackle it together and split the treasure.
Turns out they had been thinking the same thing but weren’t sure if we’d be receptive.
We negotiated that we’d each take half the treasure, teamed up, and knocked the fort out in about 20 minutes. This will be my strategy going forwards.
And right after we left the skull fort with our split loot, they hit a Kraken.
We helped them fend it off, then we got attacked by the kraken.
We fought it off and sailed on(there really needs to be some loot for doing so)
This game has so much potential.
Meaningful upgrades, different ships, more islands, different enemies. These could all keep me playing for a long while.
About midnight a strange message came on the screen about “new ships on the horizon” and some other such stuff. Apparently other crews got it too.
I spent days and days on Sid Meyer’s Pirates.
This has the potential to be even better.

How do you guys feel about the death tax they're talking about putting in? Dumb as frick IMO.

Was that your crew and the other hitting forts together yesterday afternoon. My crew spotted two galleons anchored nose to nose under a skull yesterday at around 4pm.
We also battled and defeated the Kraken yesterday, and it caused a glitch. A message showed up on the screen like 10 minutes later out of nowhere, and we could note vote on voyages. We had to leave that game and start a new one.
Has anyone received a reward for defeating the Kraken? We completely destroyed it but got no reward, just a message.

One thing I'd love to see in this game is an ability to build an armada or something, kind of like the posse system in red dead redemption. Recruit other ships under your leadership. At the very least, if you have a crew of 4, be able to choose two sloops instead of a galleon.

Need a variety of melee weapons that all do the same pop damage but specializes for certain skellies. Hammer for golds, glowing sword for shadows, etc. A good crew would have one of each equipped for forts.
Have heard they are going to make forts even more rare rather than reducing their amount of loot.
Gonna be really annoyed if they start charging gold per death.

I think being able to hire an AI ship for protection or even paying for canon protection at certain ports would make things interesting. Not sure how that would all work, but would add some interesting elements.

If they make forts more rare, I'm never going to get new sails
I've had shite luck with forts.

I've gotten the only 3 I've gone after, but they were all annoying as hell w the other players, basically have to kill them repeatedly until they give up.
I just game chat and thank them for bringing us more bananas every time we sink them. Seems to discourage them after a few runs.
"accidentally" let something slip like man we have 200 cannon balls now thanks to these idiots resupplying us!
I only have my pirate hat left to purchase before I save for ship skins.
They would make so much money releasing customized skins, dances and enotes like fortnite.

You should be able to sell a Kraken Tentacle for like 30,000 gold.
Posted on 3/26/18 at 12:12 pm to LSU Patrick
Is there a way too kraken hunt or is it RNG?
Posted on 3/26/18 at 12:26 pm to Gusoline
Completely random, but you are more likely to encounter it in deep water. So, if you are spending a whole bunch of time hanging close to the shore, then it could be a while before you come across it.

Letting everyone know we've heard the feedback and the proposed 'Death Cost' in #SeaOfThieves is, well, dead. We messed up with the messaging around this, and it's now gone. Thanks for the honest feedback & discussion on this.

Good. That would have just been silly. If they did that, they would have to increase the gold rewards big time, or decrease the god-like accuracy of the AI. People would be broke in a heart beat

Guy on reddit says it took them 9 hours to get all this and they lost it all to an almondbeard disconnect.
