People make appropriate accommodations for people with mental disabilities. A schizophrenic is treated with meds and therapy rather than everyone in the world having to pretend like the voices in their head are real.

You're operating under the illusion that homosexuality/transgenderism/gender fluidity is still considered a mental illness. The American Psychiatric Association removed that classification in the late 80's/early 90's, and the WHO officially delisted being transgender being a mental illness in 2018.

Now it's just a bunch of people being dicks for the sake of being dicks. Regardless of what I personally believe about it, growing up in a conservative Christian home, I don't have to be an a-hole about it.

In most cases, it is...

ETA: You can be sympathetic to those who are truly struggling with it and still call out those doing it for superficial reasons.

But you do know that there are some out there that think they can get pregnant, have periods, and nurse babies? Women transitioning to men that get pregnant and say "a man can get pregnant". Would you consider that a mental illness? Just use a little common sense. None of this is ok. We can't just go along with it for the sake of someone feeling something. I don't have to be an a-hole for the sake of being an a-hole, but don't try to make me believe that just because you say it, that it is fact.

ETA: Apologies. I got lost in a gaming thread and turned it political. I'm done with this topic here.

ETA2: Does the game even have this shite in it or we are just talking pronoun bios for reviewers?

This simply isn't the authority. There's too much garbage, greed, etc. to believe there's much honesty or transparency there.

I don’t really put polite societal honorifics in the same category. As an example, I’m not religious. By extension, I would consider all religious individuals to be “delusional”. Not in any edgy or mean spirited way. Just that I think they believe in something that doesn’t exist, talk to that non existent entity, etc.

Yet, every time someone asks for people to become silent for prayer, I stop what I’m doing, clasp my hands together, and patiently and respectfully wait for them to do their thing before getting back to what I was doing.

Even though I think talking to a non existent sky being is delusional, I understand how important it is to people, so out of respect and kindness for my fellow humans, I consider it worth a small inconvenience to accommodate them.

Does that make me “woke”?

I'm the same.

I draw the line at pronouns though. Can't help but cringe when I see them

Classic sicboy derailing a thread just to be a contrarian...

It is though. Gender dysphoria is a mental condition in the DSM-5-TR (most current revision). Now this isnt the bible and it does change over time. They say that not every trans person faces gender dysphoria, but this isn't true. The body and mind not being in alignment is the essence of the condition, and the whole point of transitioning. Some trans people have heavy dysphoria, others not so bad. But they all do have gender dysphoria.

quote:

On this point, it was delisted because of the suicide rate. Imagine walking around every day being institutionally told you are a mentally ill freak. They still suffer from a mental condition (mind & body not aligning), there is no denying that. But there is no point in beating a dead horse. I think if you truly cared about trans people, or have friends/family that are, you would agree that something is wrong with them that they feel the need to transition or die. I have trans friends who I care about deeply and hang out with often. I don't look down upon them for something out of their control, but to deny something isn't wrong? Currently there is just nothing we can do for trans people, and medically transitioning lowers the suicide rate so it is the best option we have. As another poster said, coddling the mentally ill is just what we do. In a clinical sense, they are mentally ill.

I don’t particularly like the whole pronoun announcement thing, just like I don’t like cutting my conversations to let people pray. But, neither are super important to me, and both are very mild inconveniences, so because it’s important to them, I don’t make an issue out of it when prompted.

Now, if someone asks me to tattoo my pronouns on my forehead, my willingness to acquiesce will evaporate instantly

It's really bad, the quality, especially graphics look bad for a game in 2024,

the glitches are bethesda like, and embarrassing.

it's a hide, shoot, hide, pew pew,hide,pew pew,hide game

The game is fine. It’s not special but it’s a fun enough chill while listening to a podcast game at the end of the day

I never played Starfield.

I don’t think it actually compares great to any game I’ve played. It almost feels like a solo MMO to be honest. Your just kinda doing stuff

I got the game free with something that I bought for my new build (probably the processor or GPU) and I still feel cheated.

I just started playing over the last week and I’m enjoying it quite a bit. Granted, my expectations were low due to the reviews and general poor reception it’s received.

My biggest complaint is there’s just too much sneaking/stealth. Also, you should be able to create your character instead of using Kay.

Other than that, yeah there’s a lot of lesbians, but whatever.
