Grok (so take it for what it’s worth) says FF7 had the largest marketing budget in video game history when numbers are adjusted for the time period. Expected to have been in total spend around the world 2.3-2.5x the games actual budget to make

These are the only ones I've played. I never had a PSone, played 8 on a PS3 that had backwards compatibility. Playing 7 remake on Switch 2 now. Obviously this 7 remake will be in the top 3.
The graphics on 10 plus the story, just blew me away back in the early 2000's.
3 was my first FF game, I was taking too long at Blockbuster picking out a game to rent, and my mom randomly grabbed FF3 (FF2 on SNES) and said, "Here, your getting this one". That's litterally how my journey into my favorite game franchise started.

Why 15 your #1? Just curious because it’s one of the few I haven’t beaten and have been looking for a reason to go back to it.

15 has a really good story and villain
Gameplay and world are fine, not great.

I havent gone back to play it either but i did really enjoy it when i played it.
The fishing mini game was way more fun than it had any right to be. Loved what they did with the party camping/food/east system.
They did a really good job of creating a comraderie between the main characters.
