The moguri mod is indisputably the best way to play ff9 by far

google AI told me it was recommended over the remastered version so maybe AI got something right for once

under the cheats menu it has an easy jump rope option. tried playing the original psx version on my phone yesterday at work and I'm definitely gonna turn that on.

I have a special spot for this one. It was the first game we got for the Super Nintendo (aside from the ones that came with it.)

Hearing 16-bit music after being used to 8-bit… hard to explain just how different the experience was.

Just one example how it’s better

9 has the slowest atb meter of any of the atb games. It’s annoying how slow it is. Remaster lets you speed it up x2 or x4, but leaves enemies at a severe disadvantage because it doesn’t scale 1 for 1.

In moguri both yours and there’s moves equal but much faster than OG.

Just a small thing but it’s way better in terms of enjoy ability to play and maintaining balance

Is 4 available on consoles? FF is my fave franchisees and like I said 1 2 and 4 are the only mainlines I haven’t played.

I could try it on steam but my wife likes to watch so I’d rather get it on ps5 if I can

Also does anyone else love type 0 like me? Maybe I’m weird. Prior to 16 it was the only ff game ever to have an M rating

I see all of the older ones on the PS Store (PS4 version).

The pixel remaster is on the ps store

I played the 3D version on iPhone years ago. Wasn’t a bad experience. Played the shite out of it at work on downtime. That’s how I played 1 as well.

I was tempted when I first saw it, never dove in.

FYI, there is a bundle with I-VI for $74.99.

It is a port of a psp game so it can take a bit to get a handle on it but it’s the best psp to console port I’ve ever seen in terms of controls.

It REALLY earns that M rating too with armies of 16 year olds slaughtering each other.

You can summons like 30+ eikons on missions at the cost of a characters life, you have a roster or 16, and you take control of the summon in normal gameplay with a 4 move loadout like party members. Odin is insane if you can get Zan charged to 100 it will kill the super boss in one hit you can only attempt on your third play through

If you want to play I recommend strongly to use a guide I can link you for the in between things and you can figure out the combat missions yourself if you want. Otherwise you will miss out on a massive amount of contents it sort of has personas time system in between missions where activities you choose take a % of your overall available time pool

I have plenty to play right now, but I'll keep it in mind.

I did finally finish Remake last month, really liked it, was this close to immediately jumping to Rebirth but opinions on it are up and down. I think I can wait.

My opinion on rebirth is it is a very very very good game that has WAY to much content on it, even if a large portion of it is quality content.

Combat is improved in every possible way, and it’s just amazing super good game. Just be ready to put in 120 hours or more if you want to do it all

Type 0 is a short game. It’s
Meant to be run 3 times for the whole experience. The first will be 20-25 hours unless you grind a resource called SFP to get some of the best stuff in the game. Second and third runs are 10 hours. It’s kinda arcade. You can also level 1 of your 16 characters while you’re not playing once you get to a certain place in the game which is cool.

If you want a very very mature and violent FF that has very serious themes slightly tied to the mythology of 13 with lcie that has an open world like old school ps1, siloed off levels for missions, with RTS missions intermixed to take Land and towns on the open map. You’ll like it

I mean 5 min in the game one of the 4 factions drops an “ultimata bomb” on another on which wipes them out in the opening cutscene

Im all about supporting devs but i doubt anyone that made those games still works for square-enix so i wouldn't feel an ounce of guilt about pirating those games rather than paying $20 for games that go on sale for under $10 all the time.

Even if you dont have a gaming pc any computer made in the past 10 years will play all those games flawlessly

The biggest sin to rebirth is that it doesn’t respect the players time.

It is extremely bloated. Pair that with many design choices like map animations taking 2-3x times longer than they should…. The game out stays it’s welcome loooooong before its conclusion. It’s very weak conclusion at that.

I didn’t feel any of that on my first run.

It can be a chore to replay if you build it all again on a fresh save. Chapter select once you’ve beaten it lets you skip all the open world stuff and just mainline the story.

Idk I think it’s a 9/10 game with some extreme flaws but the highs are so good it outweighs it. Similar to breath of the wild imo.

It’s definitely the best FF game SQE has made since 10

I dont even think its flaws are bad. Its optional extra content for the most part. You by no means have to do any of it to beat the game.

I think the chadley fights are some of the best boss fights in the game and I don't even end up using summons. Just do them for the challenge.

The mini games are true to the original game
