It tells you this during the checkout process. They give you a wide date for delivery and say the price may vary.

I wouldn't be so sure about this. I haven't read anything that guarantees you release day delivery. All I received for both consoles was an estimated shipment date and low price guarantee. Now, I preordered as soon as it became available so I may get both. I'm sure Amazon will fill preorders on a first come, first serve basis. Both the Xbone and PS4 are still available for preorder on Amazon. There's no way they are getting enough release day stock to meet the demand of all the orders they've received over the past 24 hours.
MS was reporting their release day stock of the Xbone was sold out in 4 hours on Amazon yet you can still preorder.

Yeah, they usually update the item listing with release date delivery being guaranteed as it gets closer to launch and Amazon sorts things out. Now, that's usually for games. I haven't bought or preordered a console from them, so who knows.

When I chose 2 day shipping it said release date delivery. Someone on NeoGAF also called Amazon support and they confirmed this. Not sure how many consoles they'll be getting, though. So I'm sure some people will get left out.

Yep. You don't get charged until it's packaged and ready to be shipped.
