Major Nelson claimed that Amazon nearly ran out of their allotted pre-orders in the first 4 hours. That is from Major Nelson, so I'd say take it with a grain of salt.

This was my thought as well. I much prefer the 360 to the ps3. When I do buy a new console (probably in a few years) it will be a ps4 thanks to all the bs by Microsoft. I often take my consoles into the other room when I play the . And just plug hdmi to the tv. I rarely have them connected. I will plug in to get updates from time to time. Microsoft really blew it and I will adapt.

You pay the full amount, but I don't think there is any transaction until it actually ships due to the possibility of a price change. At least this was how it was with the Xbox One on Amazon.

Yeah, they just take you through checkout to get your payment option down, then they charge when it ships.

Plus, if you do it on Amazon, they update the cost to the lowest cost from now until release and guarantee you release day delivery. You literally just sit and wait for it to show up on your doorstep or at your office the day it is available on shelves.

First off, you need to find out when Gamestop start accepting preorders. When that announcement comes, you are going to have to make plans to wait in line to get a launch day console. I know gamestop stores in BR received around 10 launch day consoles.
The preorder charge was $50 for the PS3 if I remember correctly. I don't remember what the 360 preorder charge was. I preordered both at gamestop last go around.
