I may be on an island, but I never remember using the N64 controller in left-hand-middle prong mode, even for the analog stick.
You were reaching across from left hand left? You got some big hands on you, brother
But yeah, this is from the original N64 user manual:

As an aside, young me never really thought of it, but if a game had a really simple control scheme (A/B), you could use the Dpad to move, the analog stick to look, the left shoulder as A and the trigger as B (or vice versa).

It's very possible that I'm misremembering. After all, I've slept since 1997, but the games I played on the N64 used that Home Position diagram, with the analog stick being a rudimentary camera control.

For the overwhelming majority of people, "right position" became the default for most games, but there were some games that clearly called for other hand positions. That just became less and less common as the console matured.

I definitely only remember people playing in right mode with the occasional home.

Hopefully they flesh Hyrule out to be something a bit more similar to Twilight Princess, just to give it more life. BOTW and TOTK were too much. I feel like Twilight was the pinnacle

You can already play the original game on Switch if you have the $30 a year online subscription.
I only play OoT on my N64

Right mode for most games. Home for fighting games. For me, anyways.

New information suggests it will be split into TWO $60 dollar games
For fricks sake I hate these fricking people. This'll make me skip it out of spite.

There better not be weapon durability.

I've seen multiple stories that Nintendo is furious about this leak, and that makes me suspicious that we won't see this come out, or at least it being held back. Gaming insiders were absolutely certain that the TP and WW remasters were coming out any day now and that just vanished, and that was years ago. I wondered then if Nintendo wasn't too pleased with all the insider info getting out and decided to shelve those releases out of..... spite, I guess. Not a word on those since that initial flurry of news.

That's one way to get people to buy a Switch 2.

OOT remake doesn't need much for me, I enjoy the linearity and progression of it
Update the graphics, menus, and combat mechanics, maybe make some of the puzzles solvable in multiple ways (Like breath of the wild).. Leave the map the same but maybe add a section (more dungeons) with some original music with a similar OOT vibe, maybe an additional in depth side quest or 2 that isn't just a fetch quest
Something to prolong the experience a few more hours

I think my biggest disappointment with OoT was that there was no free roam after the narrative ended. I know that was standard back then, but I would love post-credits world state in which the fields, etc, were back to their early game state.

Nintendo still loves money though. I can't fathom they'd even consider shelving a OoT remake knowing it'll sell unbelievably well. If they were to delay it I would guess it would be to time it up with the upcoming film.

Oh man. KH4 being based on the live action movies would be a sure path to failure.
No chance that's true.
