Kefka's win in FFVI for sure - then wandering the aftermath

TLOU2. Hardest hitting game I've ever played. Not a troll.

This, but for me it was saving Songbird in the DLC. That last part....damn.

Definitely this. As well as the Plague Tale games. FFX back in the day.

Nothing has come close to the Mass Effect trilogy. Maybe Uncharted 4.

Surprised no one has mentioned What Remains of Edith Finch

RDR2- i just thought the whole character arc of morgan was well done. his final moments hit.
TLOU1 and 2: 1 for sure, particularly the ending act of the game. i know 2 was controversial but i think it hard to argue to hit a lot of emotional buttons.
god of war (2018): this is very much a product of my time type of effect. to see one of my childhood icons of gaming return in such a way, just ran chills down my spine. Playing through the game and seeing kratos' evolution was fantastic.
Spirit farer: i thought it was a really touching way for a game to cover death, dyeing, and acceptance.
Undertale: i know the game is kinda cliche now, but i think it did it have a lot of poignant and joyous moments.
ori and the blind forest: i honestly dont know why. cute cartoon critter with swelling orchestral music i guess sucker punched me?
plenty of others but those rolled out without much thought.

As bad as the late game was, Final Fantasy 15
I picked that up on sale today
Never played it but enjoyed some of the other FF games so I figured I'd give it a try. I know it's not new but it's new to me.

i stay away from big cinematic games with cutscenes/ games that are allegories for depression or something lame like that. i dont even care for dramatic movies. the only time i get emotional over a video game its just like "damn i love donkey kong"

FFX for me. Mostly because of Tidus and his dad.
Wasn’t super close with my father as my parents were divorced and he lived states away. I may have felt a bit like Tidus more than I realized at the time.
One summer I was up there visiting as a kid and he took me to GameStop to turn in my OG Xbox for a PS2. The worker suggested FFX as the game to get.
I stayed upstairs for days playing that game. Only coming down to eat.
The ending gets me every time. More so now that he has passed away.

Nier: Automata has stuck with me well after I played it.
The ending to Bioshock Infinite was pretty impactful too if you aren't expecting it.
I also agree with the Mass Effect trilogy. I hadn't played ME3 since the original launched. Running through ME 1-3 Legendary Edition one after another was amazing.

If you're asking for fondness, it would probably be the first Max Payne

KH2 specifically crept its way into some weird place. That's another game I got the sads when I beat it.
Glad to know I wasn’t the only kid who got emotional during parts of KH2.
That series is really one of those “you were either there as a kid or you weren’t” situations.

Nier: Automata without question. I put the controller down and just stared blankly for a bit.

Modern Warfare 2: No Russian. That level was all kinds of effed up.
Bioshock. The mood, the twist, the environment. Wish I could play it again for the first time.
Mass Effect, the whole series. Gave you that "epic" space feel somehow better than Starfield.
Left 4 Dead. Coming across that witch for the first time is all kinds of nope.

Just Kingdom heart 1 and 2 when I played it. Its something that stayed with me till now, Birth By Sleep is up there too.
Mass effect impacted me negatively as a trilogy due to the shite ending, BUT the ME2 ending scene with the reapers sent chills down my spine back then. Too bad ME3 ending was again, hot garbage.
After that in recent time, Midnight Sun for marvel as Male Hunter. Female hunter did not give met he same vibe.
