What's the best Tex-Mex in Houston then?? My wife likes Lupe's more than El Tiempo.

Lupe Tortilla is garbage…the best Tex Mex in Houston is at Candente.

It’s definitely not a high quality culinary achievement but for a patio quick-order restaurant, it’s perfect for what it is. If you can’t like Zippy’s, you have issues.

Closer to us in the burbs, we’re big fans of Pablo’s in Richmond. That said, Candente is my favorite overall in the area.

Ate at Modesto for the first time this past weekend, as it was walking distance from our hotel. We enjoyed it.

Flounder ceviche, smoked brisket and brisket birria tacos were tasty. Pretty darn good old fashioned too.

You sound poor.
I like eating out at places where I can’t make/do what they do.

I can make an average chicken Quesadilla in my kitchen. No need to go to superior and pay $17 dollars for it.

The best thing on Superior’s menu isn’t even Mexican. It’s their pork chop

This is my latest go-to for Tex-Mex near the house. Love their Tamals

One of my all time favs for Tex Mex is La Hacienda on Memorial. Kind of a dive but their food is solid and I'd kill for their red salsa.

I like Ambriza in Katy - La Centerra for more authentic Mexican but admittedly haven't been in a while.

Also Mis Padres steak fajitas are probably best in BR.

Absolutely terrible. Mi Padres is not good. If you have to eat Mexican on that part of Bluebonnet you might as well just go to Casa Maria 1/4 mile away.

But worst in the city is Marina's Mexican Grill across from Pennington (by Maxwells).

Is that place still open? I can never tell when I drive by.

Worst I've had recently was Los Reyes on Lee. Might have been a off night or what I ordered. I've eaten at the Coursey location and it was fair for Tex-Mex.

Go around the corner to Mi Tierra (Honduran) on Perkins Road if you want even better.

I have been here. Don't plan to go back. As a non latino I noticed that the price I am charged is consistently more than what is listed on the menu.

Modesto has no business being as good as it is.

Good vibe. Good food. Good employees. Clean.

I used to think the same… when I got regular Mexican like enchiladas, tacos, etc.

Got the grill for 2- or whatever it is- last time. Fajita chicken, steak, shrimp, ribs, shrimp bomb things…

It was great!

This right here. The dude who waited on us was awesome, and there were other waitresses who came and checked on us when he was busy.

Very enjoyable meal.

Were you upset because there weren’t people wearing camo in there? Were there not enough jacked up trucks in the parking lot?
