Food Network looks mostly like reality TV, Cooking Channel is where to turn for actual cooking. I recently downloaded the Cooking Channel app to choose what to watch and cast to tv.

She seems very talented.

I like Anne Burrell too. You can always tell she knows what she’s talking about.

I love the Food Network.

I also like the competition shows on other networks.

I know many like it, but I'm not interested in watching someone cook without a competition.

I think aside from being a very good chef, he is amazing at making meals an "experience" as well, which is often just as important as the food itself

Yep. I'll watch Chopped every now and then when nothing else is on, but the rest of the programming leaves a lot to be desired.

MIL loves her. Made a road trip to Savanna. Has all her cookbooks, pots and pans, mugs, etc. . . .
Me, not so much, was turned off mostly by what seemed to be her exaggerated southern drawl.
Don’t watch the Food Network as much. Too many competition show, especially Guy’s Grocery Games, and all the kids competition.
Favorite chef, Geoffrey Zakarianan and Alex Guarnaschelli.

I'm not really of fan of her style of cooking. I remember Bourdain saying she was the "most dangerous woman in America". All the fat and butter, just too much. Even Ina can be too heavy handed with the butter and cream. That said, I don't like what they did to Paula Deen and was disappointed they let Emeril roll off because he didn't want to do the game show thing. Personally, I think Emeril was the best chef on TFN.

I wouldn’t say any of the competition shows identify best chef, but since you referenced frequency of wins and others have mentioned Iron Chefs, Michael Symon actually has the highest win rate among all Iron Chefs with more than 2 competitions. Symon won 82% of his 42 competitions. Guarnaschelli won 64% of her 12 competitions. The next highest victory rate after Symon was Batali with 79% of his 24 competitions. The worst was Marc Forgione who could barely outperform a coin flip at 53%.

I have eaten at one of his restaurants - one of the top 10 best meals of my life.

if not him, i'd give a nod to Murphy on Chopped, or even Scott Connant.

but i think the true answer is Alton Brown.

He usually makes some great looking things on Iron Chef America

Tough to evaluate since you can't really taste the cooking

The only Food Network TV chef restaurants I've been to would be Spago and Chi Spacca

Spago was great
