From what we’ve heard, Knob was unloading some older barrels. I know several other places in the country I follow got 14-15 year pics.
That said, Idk how many places had the opportunity to choose *3*...every barrel in our sample kit was 14 years old. So we bought em all. It’s been really cool to see how different they each are!

May come snag one from you next week. The Acquistapaces pick is pretty good juice.

Do you happen to have one of each of the 3 still?

The Oak Point Knobs are legit. I have the #7744 one. It's a beast of a bourbon.

Did you have any of their latest EC picks?

Their picks usually start with the year (i think). I have a couple of bottles of the 11Y that was from last year but is sold out now. Smooth smooth. I grabbed some of the last bottles for myself and a coworker. I gave my father a 10Y and had a pour of it. It was decent but not as good as the 11Y IMO. They also have a 9Y that I have not sampled yet. I kept going back and forth between their pick and Calandros TD approved and the one before baw juice. All were great and fit the bill on different days.

FPD: BT OF, inspired from watching “Top Chef”. They had to make a bite based off several bourbon drinks, including an Old Fashion.

The power of TV. My wife never drinks bourbon but saw that episode and declared she wanted an Old Fashioned. I have to admit that it worked on me too.
I've also asked Whole Foods to get me some of that Harbison cheese they raved about last week.

What’s the value of an empty BT barrel? I found one for $300. It’s hasnt been re-finished.
You are paying for the name stamped on the barrel at that price. Not saying its a bad thing, just that these barrels can be had for much less depending on the finish/quality. A friend got one for about $100 locally and paid someone another $150 to turn it into a storage unit like the pic you posted.
I bought a barrel for $200 and spent maybe $60 on supplies and made my own. It was supper easy. I can post the link of the one I followed if anyone is interested.

Whiskey connoisseurs, help a brother out. I’m laying off my beloved craft beer for awhile, and leaning towards a long while (keto). But I won’t quit drinking, that’s just foolish. Here’s my deal....I love bourbon, and have for awhile. I just don’t drink it that often, but I’ll be knocking down several bottles in the near future. I’ll probably hit a good whiskey bar soon to try several, but I’m looking for some recommendations from the experts. What I know I love: Eagle Rare, it’s what I get 100% of the time. I also snagged a Blanton’s store pick from Rouses, because I know it’s sought-after, and it’s even better. What I know I don’t care for: Jim Beam Black and Evan Williams. Had Stagg before and loved it, but I’m not looking for secondary market stuff. That’s about all I know. I have no clue if I like rye or not, but I like stouts aged in rye barrels a lot. I drink my bourbon neat or on ice, no cool-looking ice ball. Can I get a few recommendations on some bottles I can find around BR with good bang for my buck? I’ll probably grab 4-5 to rotate. (Got a Russel’s Reserve today). Thanks

If you liked Stagg (or Stagg Jr.), you may like some high proofers.
I'd recommend trying out some other store picks. The few recent Knob Creek store picks (120 proof) that I've had were pretty solid, coming in around 14 years at $45-$50. IMO store picks are great way to experience variety amongst your every day offerings and are a fun pour too.
I've also found Elijah Craig Barrel Proof to be a lot easier to find, as of late. That's a great 12 year pour for $60.
If Calandro's still has their Knob Creek Rye Store Pick, I've heard that's very solid. For your average exploration of rye, you can't go wrong with Baby Saz.
Also, check out Old Forester 1920, which is a phenomenal pour at about $60.

Does anyone know of any 4 Roses SB store picks in the BR/Nola area?

Mr Skin's advice is dead on

Look for Old Forester 1920... it’s about 60 bucks and solid.

Just left Elios. No more 1920. Sigh
I needed a rye anyway
