In the past Zuppardo’s raffles have had BTAC at 180-200, all of the Pappy was overpriced with the 23 being $1,000. Didn’t make it this year but not super upset

Sigh...another pita to get gone but not forgotten.

I cannot make who it was distributed by, next to “Rip Van Winkle”, on the base.

Edit:
Looks like “Distilled by Rip Van Winkle”

Edit #2:
Is this Pappy? Found this on Google

Edit #3

It is Old Fritzgerald

That’s what I was going to say after some looking. I’d love to go back in the 70s and 80s and drink some of the bourbons that just sat on shelves. Back then I was putting back Ol E 800 because that was my brand. I’d drink it in a bottle, fourty, quart or can.

I was disappointed I missed it, as I have never made it. What I find interesting is that Z’s has the best prices on alcohol year round, but jacks up the price for raffle. I prefer a raffle structure like Martin’s did last year where you pay $5 per ticket and if you win, you buy at MSRP. They donated the raffle monies to the Ronald McDonald house in Nola.

BT has remade Old Charter. Looks like it was made with different oaks

quote:

Ready for another whiskey brand from the titans of bourbon at Buffalo Trace? The Kentucky distillery is upgrading a long-suffering brand, Old Charter, and spinning it off with a new line of premium, limited edition bourbons under the tweaked Old Charter Oak banner. You can think of Old Charter Oak as akin to the Col. E.H. Taylor line, with unique expressions being released two or three times each year and in varying, limited quantities — some as one-off releases, some repeated.

The concept with Old Charter Oak is that every expression will be aged in a different type of oak barrels, the result of experiments that Buffalo Trace has been running for more than 12 years, using oak sourced from all over the globe. The first of these, which arrives on the market in December, is a bourbon aged in Mongolian Oak barrels, wood which it took Buffalo Trace two years to procure.

Pricing aside, the only negative from Zuppardos last night was how the two little girls were only picking certain tickets. Often times grabbing several and throwing back ones till they got they one they liked. There were 3 colors. Red, blue and yellow. They didn’t draw a yellow ticket until it was brought to their attention this was going on. By that time, only the Pappys were left.

It’s hard to get mad at a raffle like this. All in all we had a good time. I liked how the tastings were outside. You have room to walk around and mingle. I’ll go back next year for sure.

Well I struck out this am at my raffle. 290 various bottles with well over 1000 people at 7am. I had to go to a family function so I only got to hear numbers called for 45 minutes. My friend got called a couple minutes after I left and ended up 168 in line and only got a handle of Weller 12. The last of the handy, stagg, and ofbb were taken right before him.

I went to a hole in the wall place this morning that moves a good volume of booze. Ask guy behind the counter if they have any of the rayer stuff. He comes out with a sheet from republic showing he had ORVW, WLW, GTS and THH. I say sweet, I’ll buy those. He goes in the back and grabs the bottles, then says ORVW is $440, and WLW/THH were $340. I offered 200 for the WLW and he declined.

Bummer, but I’m not paying out the arse for Old Rip & Handy

Does anyone that enjoys good whiskey also enjoy smoking quality pipe tobacco like me? Not that crap you can buy at the convenience store but a good Blalkan/English blend. I assume most go the cigar route.
