Never had a makers mark of any kind that was worth buying. Can’t imagine this one is different.
How’s that Elios pick?
RB rye is very good for a rye drinker. Worth having for sure. I like seeing it on the shelf.

Some of the Maker’s store picks are great. You’re missing out. Maker’s was also the first bourbon that I drank so it’ll always have some nostalgia for me

Makers Mark Cask Strength is also good. I've found it as low as $32 in Houston.

Agreed. As well as the wood finishing series. I have a line on a bottle I may pick up tomorrow

Been too long since we have been. Wife and I were saying recently we need to get out there again soon. Amazing place!
Got my hands on that Balvenie Caribbean that bus was suggesting to me. I’m definitely enjoying it.

My local has balvenie day in dark barley 26 that he has been trying to sell me. Just not a scotch fan.

Total Wine has it priced back at $76 today. It’s been $50-$53 at TW and Martins past few months. It’s good either way but for $50 it’s a steal!

Martin's still has the low prices on Balvenie.
TW would rather sell your Grangestone whisky.

That’s hilarious. Went there today and was talking with a guy who just gave me the vibe he was a novice. Very young and very “cuckish” lol if that makes any sense. Anyhow I asked why the big markup on the Balvenie CC. He had no clue and then said he had only been employed for a week. Then he asked if I had ever had any of the Grangestone? Said he liked having such a variety of choices and such “great flavors”. I just laughed to myself and said yeah I’ve tasted it...it’s ok. But he’s the second one to push that. That and their Two Star bourbon.

And why is TW selling MM PR5 for $68?

Just been getting into bourbon over the last few months and am still overwhelmed when I go to a store. I've got many of the basics like ER, Blanton's, Weller SR, Basil Hayden, Angels Envy, etc., but I'm curious where you guys learn about which of the more obscure things to purchase?
I don't mean "hard to get", but if I go to a bourbon store that has 100 different bourbons on hand, should I just buy some shite that looks cool or is there a solid resource y'all would recommend to learn where I'll get the most bang for the buck and/or high quality stuff that just hasn't entered that "hard to get" phase yet?

it gets to a point where you know everything on the shelf and even what a reasonable price it.
FB bourbon groups seem to help out alot.
breakingbourbon.com is a very good resource and even has a date of release calendar
