Staying in NOLA for BAMA game with a group of 20+. Not interested in walk ons. Food or not is no big deal. More worried about good drink specials/game day atmosphere.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hmmm.
Maybe Cooter Brown's in the uptown/riverbend area.

Gordon's B's maybe, Ernst cafe, or just find a bar you like in the F.Q.

Gordon Biersch or Ernst would be good. Ernst would probably have a better crowd for an LSU game.
Give up on the Cooter Browns idea unless half your group wants to get there by 10:00am. Place is going to be crazy crowded.
There is a place on Decatuer kind of on the lower end of the quarter maybe two blocks or so from Jackson Square. I can't for the life of me think of the name, but they have some great tvs in the bar area and a nice courtyard with tv's.

This. If you've got a group of 20 people who you want to watch the game with, I'd just try to go take over a random bar if I were y'all. I definitely wouldn't try to go somewhere like Cooter Browns.

that place is a shell of its former self.

I haven't been there in probably 4-5 years, so I wouldn't know.
Taking over a bar in the FQ is probably the best idea.

I know bourbon street blues has the big projection screen upstairs and offer 3 for 1 beer at night... Do they offer this in the day time as well?

I watched the TN game at the Boot and it was great. Have no idea about drink specials because i was part of a private party and we had tickets. You could call and ask. It's unlikely that it will be packed with other folks, though, being a college bar if the game is played at the predicted 2:30. Maybe more people since it's the AL game. I only saw about 5 people who weren't with us the whole time we were there. We had a lot of people with us, though. Maybe 100. I can't judge crowds, but the place was pretty full, though there were still plenty of places to sit.
The place is big and has plenty of windows and doors were open so it wasn't drab. There were two HUGE screens at either end of the room and then a gazillion TVs lining the long bar and the opposite side of the bar, as well. I could see the game no matter where I was in that place with the exception of the ladies' room. I'd go there to watch another game in a heartbeat.
They serve pizza and some other food, but I didn't eat anything, so I have no idea if it's any good.
Oh, and the bathrooms were clean for those who said they might be nasty.

The Rusty Nail is the official Alabama watch site. Could get interesting.

Definitely Rusty Nail. I love the place, but I'm staying the frick out of there for the LSU/Bama game. Going to be absolutely packed.
Posted on 10/20/11 at 12:21 pm to THRILLHO
Exactly. I wouldn't want to be anywhere that's packed for that game. I'd want to be where I can watch it.

Not sure why Walk On's isn't an option, but fwiw it's a very good place to watch the game.

I've never been to any Walk Ons, so I have no idea.

Oh, it is a good place to watch the game, but you have to consider how the place is going to be that day.
For the Kentucky game we got there at 11:15 and had to wait an hour to get a table for 4.
With a group his size, it just doesn't seem like it is the kind of place that will work for them.
