If that's the case, 14 course chef's tasting (let the server pick the whole meal for you) at Uchi.

Ask for Jameela.

This is one of the worst Houston food threads I've seen

I feel bad for anyone who stumbles upon this one in the future. Some decent recs scattered throughout, but damn is this a mess. OP was terrible too. But I'd trust Ham. He's always had solid suggestions.

the guy wanted recs for the entire city, then let us know he was downtown near the galleria. I had to give him the best.

It did. The only thing they really had going for them was their bloody Mary's, and even those were pretty much novelties. Good atmosphere, but there were a lot better places to get an actual brunch in the area IMO.

And yes, this was one of the worst Houston food rec threads I've seen on here

TaD's in Tomball. You will be glad you went

So I took the family on Labor Day.

Place looked pretty clean. Kind of a smaller local sports bar feel.

Ordered appetizers of blooming onion thing, some mushrooms and eggplant style appetizer. Pretty tasty.

Entre of half shrimp poboy and cup of gumbo. Shrimp were terribly small and obviously bought from Sysco. Gumbo, and I swear to God, tasted exactly like the Savoie's that you buy in the frozen food section at the grocery store. Even down to the odd chunks of chicken.

Fried catfish was a whole lot of batter and a whole little of fish

Baked fish was pretty good, but the etoufee crawfish on top....never seen crawfish so small in my life

finally, the table having to ask for tea refills on three separate occasions was not so great

in summary, this appears to be a Sysco-sourced restaurant that tries to act Cajun. Make your own food and get some better quality ingredients.

I am not glad that I went. Hope they improve.
