Where is the Best Tex Mex in Baton Rouge?

When I go to a Mexican place I usually get a combo plate of enchiladas and a taco or two and I found it seems that the Tex-Mex. places suit me more. I'm not really adventurous lol. I know what I like and I stick with it. But I appreciate it when a place does more than pour some beans out of a can b and that serves rice that barely has any color or flavor.

For atmosphere, and I'll most likely get downvoted here, Superior Grill. I find their food to be okay.
But for actual Tex-Mex food, I've always been partial to Mi Padres in Prairieville. Always consistently good. And they have the best homemade flour tortillas of any Mexican restaurant that actually makes them.

I don’t know if it’s the best, but about a year ago, tried out Modesto near campus with the family.
From the food, to great drinks that didn’t skimp on the booze, and a very polite and friendly wait staff (possibly LSU students?), we had a great time and would definitely go back.

There is only app 150 of them in BR and they all serve the exact same food.

I mean TexMex isn’t the most diverse cuisine, what do you want them to do?

I've only been the one on Government Street but I've never cared for it all that much.

Like I said, quality ingredients well presented. The beans and rice at most places are generic slop. Hell, even on the border had good beans and rice compared to most places out there.
And they had the best salsa too. Made in house fresh everyday.

I wouldn't put Mestizo in a tex-mex category. It's the best quality Mexican food I can think of, but to me, it's not tex-mex beef and chicken enchiladas, tacos, and fajitas.
I think Superior is the best quality Tex-Mex. People on here like to hate on what's popular.
Didn't MiPadres spur off of Superior? Superior employees or something?
I've read a lot about Modesto on here, but I haven't tried it.

Like many have said here, It's all the same ingredients, same recipes, lots of overlap. Really hard to screw up Tex-Mex. That being said, my vote is Modesto. I think they put a little more signature and love into their stuff.

As far as the other generic stuff goes.. It's hard to mess up the simplicity of Tex Mex and I still enjoy it.
