Bought a Recteq 590 last week and it is arriving tomorrow so I will need some pellets. Is there anything to avoid when purchasing them?

I get the ones at Sam's. It's a blend and works for basically anything

Pit boss brand is the most economically priced and I can’t tell the difference after trying damn near everything. The only thing that I would stay away from is the Jack Daniels brand ones made from whiskey barrels. My auger couldn’t break them up because they are WAY more dense than anything else and I was constantly dealing with jams with those.

Just make sure they're 100% hardwood.

I had the same issue with the Jack Daniels. They kept the auger from feeding.

As far as pellets go for the pellet choice, I've been using Lumberjack. I got them from Dicks.

B&B is what I use now. I get the best smoke flavor from them out of all the brands I’ve tried. They also have Post Oak pellets that really work well with Brisket.

I have a Bullseye and have been running pit boss competition blend or whatever bear mountain that tractor supply puts on sale. Both have been great. I really like the oak bear mountain.

Lumberjack is the best brand, but since Dick’s doesn’t carry it anymore, I may have to switch.

I bought 4 bags from Dicks last month. And it shows they have 10 in stock today (at least in Baton Rouge).

I don't have a pellet grill, but I've purchased both Traeger Pecan and Hickory pellets.

Sometimes, when I'm grilling (either over Royal Oak or Kingsford briquettes) I'll just sprinkle a small handful of the pellets on the coals, before putting the meat on.

It certainly flavors the burgers or whatever I'm cooking.

I bought a bag of the Kingsford pellets from Rouses in a pinch and they made some delicious smoked wings and pulled pork

B & B from Academy. I always get the Apple if they have it, but it tends to sell out pretty quick. Championship Blend is my second option.

I’ve heard that’s a place to get it, but do they charge a lot for shipping?
