Not sure about the manager. Fish tacos though...they're the truth.

I think BBQ is a tough sell for a lunch spot, but that's just me.

Johnson's Boucaniere was one of my go-to lunch spots when I was in Lafayette, probably the best BBQ there.

As good as Dwight's is, I don't go for BBQ during the week.
Gotta fight the crowds on Sunday afternoon.

For a crawfish place, the Sunday Barbq is pretty good.

We could use a good messican place down around Houma way.

El Portrillo on Moss St. In the old Puzza Village...not the fanciest but food is authentic and dirt cheap.

What ?????? That place is the typical 'Mexican' restaurant thrown up by Mexicans that have ZERO idea how to cook. It's bland as hell and everything is cooked in a microwave. The "fajitas" are the gristle ends sold in a bag from Pocahontas Food Service.

If you believe this place is good you must think Long John Silvers is a seafood delicacy. And no, it's not "cheap" for what they serve. They load the plates with rice, beans, and scatter shredded iceberg lettuce to make you think you're being served a giant portion. Were you drunk when you ate there ? I really rather eat Taco Bell other than the chips and salsa.

That describes like 90% of the Mexican restaurants in the state.
But that free chips and salsa keeps the people coming.

Lafayette is getting a Chuy's? That might instantly be the best Tex-Mex in the state.

The Boom Boom sauce is freakin awesome. Get it on everything!

where's La Morenita?

On Ambassador Caffery between I-10 and Cameron. If you're heading into town, it's on the right side in the s-curve right before the bridge over the train tracks.

That and Habana City Cafe were two of my go-tos when I worked there.

EDIT: And BJ's pizza. I'm a mark for their Gambler sandwich.

At least y'all get restaurants. Still the same stuff here that's been here since I was kid with the exception of about 4 places.

An awful Long John Silvers that I have no idea how it stays in business
Popeyes
Balls Fried Chicken
Taco Bell
Subway
Mc D's/Burger King
Sonic
DQ
2 Chick Fil A's (which are pretty good)

Sit down places:
Chili's
Luna's
Mazen's
Harlequin
Pujo Street Cafe'
Darrell's
Seafood Palace
Steamboat Bill's
Chastains
Casa Mañana/Que Pasa
An awful Rotolos
Johnnie's Pizza (the other pizza chains too)

So we can group the pizza places together, the seafood places together, and the fast food places together that are in every town out there.

Side note: Mazen's, The Harlequin, Pujo Street and Luna's (not to be confused with Luna Live) are all very good.

Boooooooo

I heard we were supposed to get a few new places but like always they never show up.

I don't know how Mazen's stays open here. It's kinda out of the way and I never see people there when I do pass.

Food isn't bad though

Chuys. Ive eaten at them in Texas; better than anything Lafayette currently has except for La Pagua.

I had heard a lot about Chuys. At at one in Nashville last year and it was pretty good. They give you some sort of ranch dip for the chips. It was kind of weird but still good.
