My family loves Deanos in Lafayette. What say you?

I remember when Deano's was going to build on Perkins by Village St George then pulled out like Buc_Eeeees

Well, I'd say I eat at hackett's in Lake Charles more than anywhere else in the state. Some of the finest plate lunches I've ever had. Spicy smoked boudin is great too

Johnson's Boucaniere is probably my favorite, sadly I don't eat there very often since leaving Lafayette. Good barbecue and boudin in one stop.

We don't eat out much while home since we eat out a lot while traveling. But my favorite La. joint is Drago's. If I'm looking for something a few minutes from home, Nathan's in Slidell is fantastic. I've had better meals and service there than I've had at places like Galatoire's.
ETA: While I've seen mixed reviews around here, we eat at Prejean's just about every time we're passing through that area. While I've certainly had better food, I've never had a bad meal there. I've also had the best bowl of gumbo there in my,lifetime, though on other visits it was inconsistent. But I appreciate a restaurant that has a wide variety of things I like as opposed to a restaurant with excellent food but only a couple menu items that really appeal to me.

Now that I've moved away (9yrs ago), the hole-in-the wall shops with plate lunches are what I miss and seek out more.
You don't realize until you leave just how good/cheap lunches are all over in S. LA.
I remember this little spot in Breaux Bridge I used to stop at, can't remember the name though.
Every time I go back and visit my Grandmother in Luling, I take the drive back up hwy51 and stop at Middendorfs with my kiddos. So I'll echo that sentiment.
