You don't realize until you leave just how good/cheap lunches are all over in S. LA.
I judge out of state eateries by the "gas station test."
Most places I can say aren't as good as the food I can get at a gas station in Louisiana.
For the purposes of this thread, I'll say that I have always enjoyed my meals at The original Don's Seafood in Lafayette. Classic regional menu that is well executed. I haven't been in a few years. I hope it hasn't fallen off.

Rose's Cafe - Galliano
I took a year off between high school and college to make a little $. We'd go to Roses almost every day for lunch and it got to the point that our drinks would be at the table waiting for us when we walked in.
Good stuff. Don't think I've been since they moved to the new building.

God, how I miss Tony's down in da Parish. Best roast beef poboy, best hamburger steak with grilled onions and roast beef gravy, best shrimp and oyster poboys...A part of me died when they closed down after around 40 years. So superior to Rocky's. There's no place I know of in Slidell that serves that kind of home-style food.

True, I worked with some guys from out of state. They asked where to go get something good for lunch. I'm like I go to the Chevron station or the shop rite up front, they have really good plate lunches. They didn't know what a plate lunch was at the time. They started eating there everyday after that.
For the OP, for me it Dragos
