People talk shite but their Chicago Dog is legit. My wife lived in Chicago for several years and says it's as close as you are going to get to an actual Chicago street vendor.
Absolutely legit. Best thing at Sonic.
As for brands, I like
Sabrett's
Hebrew National
Nathans
Don't buy them often, but when Publix has a BOGO on one of those three brands, I buy them. Some of the Johnsonville sausages are good too.

Fork In the Roads are very good hot dogs.

Some people posted items, I would not consider as being a hotdog. Not a flame, just a question. I consider a hotdog and a sausage as two entirely different things
absolutely. Hot dog in a hot dog bun = Hot dog. Sausage in a hot dog bun = hot link. Bratwurst in a hot dog bun = Brat.

Nathan's on a steamed top slice bun. Mustard. Onions. Relish.

My post was meant for regular store bought hotdogs, not fancy sausages, brats, etc. just your run of the mill hot hog.

The red ones for a dollar a pack at Dollar General.
Best when cooked over an open flame.
Makes a pretty good spaghetti too.

1. Vienna beef with the casing is tops by a long shot.
2. Nathans, although I’ve never been able to find the ones with a casing.
3. Hebrew National
3.a Ball Park angus beef

Agree with this.
Johnsonville has a sausage with cheese and chili that is surprisingly good and reminds me a bit of frank n stuff without the 3rd degree burns.

Bryan's Beefy Jumbos, or Ball Park. Occasionally Nathans.

Someone is going to say how can you take 45 minutes to make a hot dog, but props to you for figuring out how your family likes em
Had them like this for the first time a long while back at a party. They grilled them all ahead of time, in the bun and into little foil bags and all into a cooler to stay warm. Pretty good. I’ve also done similar when we’re cooking a lot. Do the dogs first and kids eat them right away and put the rest in the oven to stay warm.
