Pot roast

Two of the things I cooked this past week. I fixed a 3 gallon pot of chili on Tuesday and a top sirloin pot roast with roasted vegetables on Wednesday.

Up on the list is chicken & sausage gumbo and just about any of the many homemade soups I can fix with a good vegetable/beef being my favorite.

I love the winter lineup. Gumbo, roast (deer neck and beef chuck), chili (with deer meat chunks). It's also smoking time - all the meats: ribs (pork, beef, deer), beef chuck, brisket, pork butt, whole chickens. Shrimp and corn soup! I hate summer.

My mom also made a great beef and vegetable soup....wish she could come back and cook for me...nothing like mom's cooking...the whole house smelled good...

Gumbo is the best but we don't have very good cajun food in DFW. I make tortellini soup all the time when it gets cold. Sunday Gravy is another favorite on Sunday nights.
