I'm not a fan of their spinach queso.
Former old lady of mine used to order that shite every time. Really burned my arse every time she dragged me there.

Negative brah. I've only been there once but wasn't impressed. They did have great charro beans and it is better than that Casa Garcia place.

Tacos al Carbon or al Pastor
If they can't master this simple dish, then they don't deserve my money.
Also, just about every place has hot salsa if you ask for it. Most times it's a spicy salsa verde. I've found that the quality of the spicy salsa you have to ask for is a good indicator of overall restaurant taste.

OK, so, all this being said... what are the best Mexican restaurants?
For Tex-Mex, my go-to is El Rio Grande.
For authentic Mexican, I like La Morenita.
My favorite salsa was at the old Chevy's near Esplanade Mall.

in Baton Rouge I like Casa La Vida. best red sauce I've had in Louisiana.
favorite Mexican place I've ever eaten at is a little dive called Rosita's Armory Cafe in Salinas, CA. Everything is killer.

Me too!
The GM (who I always thought was the owner) is the best too.

Very good there.
I wanna say they do a good margarita special on Wednesdays too.

Yep. you can also request he make the salsa spicier than normal. which is what we do when I go with my Indian friends who live out there. and yes, the owner is a swell guy!

I'm not normally a sopapilla eater, but the GM plays pool with Jones and sent some to us last time we went. Wow. The sauce they serve with them

The guy with the mustache, I guess. He's always greeting people and walking around... That guy.

I remember watching the World Cup Final game at Casa la Vida. I think this was before the Londoner opened and I wanted to watch it in a more international setting with people really getting into the game.
It was late in the game with just minutes to go as this huge arse storm plowed through Baton Rouge. Casa la Vida has (or had) dish and not cable, so the broadcast went out for the remainder of the game. When it came back on, we all realized that we had missed the winning goal.

If you're talking mexican, i say ceviche and grilled fish tacos. If you're talking tex mex I say tamales and carne guisada.
