Edit: you have to forgive Yeezy. He only comes in contact with NOLA natives at his work and hood.

We had a tres leches from them at work the other day.

I'd use different whipped cream but it's still delicious.

I'm going to assume you're not talking about the after dinner drink. That stuff is money though.

As is the tres leches cake from Whole Foods.

I could be wrong, but I think about other places I've lived and the amount of Hispanic people I encounter is markedly less significant. Obviously in the greater metro area that's not the case, but for NOLA proper I don't think it's amiss to say Hispanic Americans make up a small minority.

Hell, according to the last census only 5.3% of the population is of Hispanic origin.

That's not a lot.

They know better than to live in your neighborhood, same thing for the school, and they don't drink craft beer.

Carlos reopened not long ago, and I've good things about it. His son owns Mestizo on Acadian.

I drank a Corona the other day

I guess I'm just a little surprised. In other places I've lived I never had to go to any specific place to encounter Hispanic people; they just were there. Sure, when I'd swing by my favorite taquerias there would be more Hispanic people, but for the most part I'd see them all around town. I don't have that same experience now that I live in NOLA. I dunno.

I hate SG. But I see people raving about the chips and salsa.

Their food isn't great but their salsa, queso, & margaritas are.

Their food isn't great but their chips, salsa, queso, Top Shelf Margaritas, Chicken Tortilla Soup, and Blue Corn Stack Enchiladas are.

Ninfas sucks since Burke/TJ Moran ownerhip ended(went recently and it keeps getting worse). El Sol is hit/miss by the dish, same for Mestizo, El Rio Grande(best Chimichangas in BR..maybe Guac too?), Coyote Blues(the artsy fartsy stuff rocks..but their basics blow), La Carreta, etc..

El Limon's $1.65 bistec, pastor,etc..tacos though not world-beaters, may be BR's ounce-for-the-buck champeen in taste. A tasty cheap lunch with real Mexico City Litre Coke(supposedly even better than the Hencho in Mexico bottled stuff we buy by the case at Costco/Sam's according to the owner).
