I've been here for five years and haven't been impressed.

Royal China on Veterans is the best I've had. At lot of people seem to be impressed by Trey Yen (which is across the lake in Mandeville and Hammond), but I don't get it.

China Rose in Fat City is supposed to have a "Chinese Menu" that you have to ask for that is actual authentic Chinese food. And the place next to Hong Kong Market on the west bank has Dim Sum on weekends which is pretty good. Royal China also has a Dim Sum menu. Those are the only 2 places in NOLA that I know of that have Dim Sum.

I'm ok with Royal China, but they need to close that place down for a week and clean the hell out of that place.

Any good Sichuan food in nola?

Little Chinatown in Kenner is good. Not in New Olreans though.

It's all so darn difficult. :banghead

Such a weak link in the city - even metro area. I still love China Doll's egg rolls, though.

I keep hearing this but I've only been disappointed when I go there. Guess I need to go after the Chinese New Year when the stars are aligned and the moon is full in the eastern sky. Their regular American Chinese food is terrible.

What did you have at Kin? I had the dumplings and "The Nest". Freaking awesome. And the mango spritzer.

Ramen and dumplings. Overall I wasn't blown away. The ramen was very meh, although I'm no ramen expert.

Dude, why would someone order ramen in any restaurant? I'm perplexed.

There are very few great Chinese restaurants in America, including S.F., NYC and L.A.

+1

Only Chinese food that really impressed me in NOLA. I went on the 4th of July once and they just blew me away.
It might be worth checking on "American" holidays.

Yeah, overall it sort of sucks. Egg rolls are still the best, though.
