A true dinner party does need to have a focus on the food. If your respect your guests you will not serve hot dogs as previously suggested.

There is a group of 6 of us that always get together and hang out and eat. It is much more about the company than the food but I enjoy cooking different things for my friends. I could 100% serve chili dogs and we would have a blast but I am not going to do that. I can have chili dogs any day. I want to cook something fun to provide a fun experience for my friends.

Homemade ramen is a great idea. Wife's mom has done it a few times and it was outstanding. All about the broth.

"To show you how much I value your friendship, I will satisfy your hunger for one hour."

It had better be damn good ramen. And make sure everyone knows ahead of time what you're serving. Tell them not to bring wine. Don't expect to get invited when they're serving prime rib.

To me it sounds more like something you'd serve for lunch while you're prepping a big evening dinner. But I don't know your audience. Maybe they like the idea of a soup party.

Embarrassing no-go

But you have your party and I’ll host your wife correctly while you’re treating friends to ramen.

This. And do you have dinner parties where the food is a surprise? If I'm friends with the person I'm asking them whats for dinner so I know what kind of beer wine or whatever to bring. If whoever you invite doesn't like the food idea, they can just not show up?

All of you guys have a much different definition of dinner party than I do.

We just get together and hang out and we happen to cook too.
