And they served you homemade ramen and fried rice? The ramen would be with several toppings including chashu pork belly.

I think it would be a fun surprise.

The wife thinks it would be embarrassing.

What say you guys? If it matters, no guests or hosts are Asian.

I would personally enjoy going to a dinner party like that as it would be fun and I like ramen.

I would make sure the people coming aren't a bunch of squares first though.

Ramen is a very “trendy” dish right now. Almost to the point where it’s being overdone a bit.

But man, when done right it’s really good. And I’ve never heard of someone doing it at home with friends.

I think it’s an awesome idea. Tell your wife to relax.

Dinner party is about the company not the food.

Great people can serve hot dogs and I’m in.

People I don’t want to be around can have Emeril in the kitchen and I’m not interested.

Sounds like your wife is a tea cakes and chicken tenders type. I think it would be awesome.

Does your wife not realize that ramen isn’t just a cheap college kid meal? I can see how she’d be embarrassed if you said you were going to serve ramen and she pictured her dinner guests sprinkling their own MSG packets on their noodles.
