I wouldn’t go out of my way for Walk-On’s in South Louisiana (as there are better and cheaper mom & pop restaurants), but while traveling, it’s not a bad option.

Why not try the mom and pop places in wherever you are traveling?

For me, it's the opposite. If I'm in another city I'm not eating at a restaurant I can eat at 2 miles from my house

There’s vacationing and then there’s traveling. When vacationing, I am in a set location. I want to enjoy the best options in the area and am going to take time to research the best local options. Eating local food is one way I learn about the place I am vacationing in.

Traveling is just getting from A to B. I’m not in a tourist location, just stopping for food at a random interstate exit not in a major city looking for something to eat that doesn’t sound terrible. If I am making good time, I’ll swing into a sit down restaurant to rest my eyes from the road. I’m not going to heavily research local places when I’m just pulling off a random interstate exit off I-30 or I-65. I just want something that won’t suck, won’t cost too much, and won’t make me sick that’s close to the exit. If I want a shrimp po’boy outside of the 504, 225, or 337; odds are, Walk-On’s will be my best option or close to it.

I used to hate on it, but they make a better burger than most places and their blackjack chicken sandwich is awesome.

It's Ok sports bar food, better than most. I don't have big expectations when I stop there, but, I know I won't leave hungry.

This has always been my favorite, but I got it two weeks ago and it was a straight up salt lick. They must have done something with the blackening seasoning. I couldn't eat it, and I love salt.

I agree though.. their burgers are good, and at least the LSU location has one of the best gumbos around.

Big Burgers and Sliders are very good. Same with the Gumbo. For Bar food, it’s better than most.

As for Brandon, like Todd Graves, he gives a lot back to the community.

Brandon’s Mom passed away recently.

think pretty much all restaurants are overpriced

Well if you’re a good cook, yeah.

This is why I primarily order stuff at restaurants that I’m less likely to do myself:
Chargrilled oysters
Beef Wellington
Only high quality pizza (never chain pizza unless getting drunk pizza with friends)

Food was trash, got better, then trash again. Overpriced and nothing noteworthy. I will go to the one at LSU couple of times a year and that is it. I swear once Drew Brees got involved the food got steadily worse. And how the one in Towne Center is even open is a mystery.

I took my daughter shopping the other day and since I won't let her go to the mall and we were near town center. She suggested Walk On's so we went. Many better options around there but that's what she wanted. The service was really poor. It was so poor I considered not tipping. The food was as expected. My daughter said the one in Prairieville is just OK but she likes Brewbacher's better. I let her know there was Brewbacher's in Baton Rouge. She's 13 and never lived in Baton Rouge so oh well.

The Town Center Walk-On’s is BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS the worst location. Truly awful experiences every time. The one by LSU is solid, as is the one in Prairieville. It’s just that one in Town Centre that straight up sucks. They need to close it or pull the franchise from that management group.

Somehow I've never been to one, but this thread has led me to get a burger if and when I do.
