Food or meal?
I don't think I've ever had a bite of food or specific dish that by itself was anything outrageous.

Sashimi at the sushi restaurant at the Wynn in Vegas back when the Wynn had first opened. It was something like $50 for 2 pieces.
Mine cannot touch some of these. Damn man.

I can't recall a specific food item, but I do recall spending around $515 - sans tip - for the wife and I at Le Coucou.

Worth every penny though, right? That place is awesome.

Meal that I paid for: Doris' Metropolitan - Me and the GF at the time's bill was $600 and that was after apps, salads and dessert were comped.
Meal I didn't pay for: Emeril's Delmonico's the night before the Saints played in the Super Bowl. 11 bottles of Caymus Special Select, 8 people at the table including my little brother who was underage and my mom who doesn't drink red wine.

I'd wager Per Se is my most expensive meal, too. I have no idea what it cost because it was rented out for a birthday and I didn't have to pay. All I know is a I ate some damn good food and drank wine way above my palate.

Bite of food would probably be some caviar but no idea what the price was.
Meal was probably at one of Daniel Boulud's restaurants in NYC. 500 or so for my wife and I

Not the most expensive over all, but it was by weight. I had a special of blue fin tuna one time. The dish was $60, but the tuna was probably 4 oz, making it about $200 a pound.
