You're a BBQ guy. Have you tried Smoked next to Kim Anh?

I have. I actually know those guys. They do a great job. There is gas station across the street that carries a nice amount of beers too.

We don't talk about Smoked as much as we should here.

They really do a good job and that gas station has a great beer selection. That area has some good eats.

Very overrated, and I found them to be rude every time I have been in there. The meatball is okay though I guess.

A couple of people have hated on it in this thread, but it is one of my favorite, consistent places in NOLA. It is no where close to the best in NOLA, but it is great place to get good food in a fun atmosphere.

Pass on Prejeans, go to Bread & Circus instead (depending on the day and time you are passing through Lafayette).

I’d stop in Lafayette and just load up on some boudin and cracklings for the remainder of the ride down

I like LPG but if I have two nice meals in the city? It’s a dime a dozen kinda place in NOLA. What about a Peche or Herbsaint?

I’d have to agree on skipping Domilese’s. I like the Bevi rec - sit at the bar, get a beer, a big boiled seafood platter and po boy

I’d skip Ruby Slipper too - consider a brunch at Compere Lapin

And I think JI’s is cool if you haven’t been and you know what you’re getting yourself into. Same with Willie Mae’s

I don't know about a dime or dozen, but it would be a lunch option on my list. I had a great lunch there in January.

I would look at Brigtsen's for a dinner. I also really enjoyed Gris-Gris recently. It's not a dressy place, but it was awfully fun to sit at the "kitchen counter" downstairs and engage with the chef. The menu is larger at night than at lunch.

Mmmhmmm.

The father of their chef and/or owner (can't remember which) was my Lyft driver from the airport last year. Really nice guy. He was super proud of his son.

Great list. Commander's and LPG are two of my favorites. The casual places are pretty good too.

GW Fins or Peche should be seriously considered

Don't go to Prejeans, instead go to Pops in downtown Lafayette. Best po boys in the state.

Or Darryl's in Lake Charles.

Used to love to stop at Prejean's for duck andouille gumbo and potato salad, but last time I was there a few months ago they took forever to get me just a bowl of gumbo at lunch. I finally had to leave and cancel the order. I'm done with them.

I'm probably in the minority here but I'd prefer Parasol's over any of the Uptown/Garden Dist. poboy spots. Mahoney's and Domilises are overpriced and Guy's is never open, lol.

I need to check out Bevi

If you go, only thing you should get is a bowl of the duck gumbo. Best thing they have on the menu and it is fabulous

I think It suffered with Devillier spreading himself thin with the other new restaurants. Now that he closed Balise I’m thinking it returns to its former glory
