Taking the family to New Orleans this summer. Admittedly, I haven't been back there in a while, but how does this list look?

On the way down (from Houston):
- Prejeans (though I have heard the quality has gone way down lately...true?) Better options between here and there?

Nice dinners:
- Commander's
- La Petite Grocery

Other meals:
- Ruby Slipper
- Domilese's
- Willa Jean
- Jacques-Imo's
- Willie Mae's

List looks good. I'm not a big fan of Ruby Slipper, but that's the only outlier I see.

Don't go to Prejeans, instead go to Pops in downtown Lafayette. Best po boys in the state.

Ruby Slipper doesn't really need to be part of a plan. It's fine, but it is just a breakfast spot. Willa Jean is much better.

Jacques-Imo's is a fun experience for out of towners, but the food is not as good as it was in the past when it built its reputation. It's also not cheap. You may want to try Peche or Cochon instead, but not imperative.

Concur 100%. Guys, Mahoneys, even Parkway for poboys over Domilese (I know lots of people have great affection for the place; but nostalgia doesn't always taste good).

J-I's is a hot mess, as always. Perennial favorite of drunk TU undergrads, their out of town parents, and where they think they're getting "local" food. Noisy, sloppy, and overpriced for the experience. You can do better.

Yep. Three excellent choices in that area would be, Boucherie, DTB and Carrollton Market.

I stopped at prejeans a few weeks ago on a trip bc it’s convenient. Food was meh.

I’d add Clancy’s, And Bears in Metry. Ruby slipper is average but decent. I’m not a huge fan of Willa’s or Willies but many others enjoy them.

I think you have the wrong list.

Nice dinners:
Clancy's
Carrollton Market
Peche
Herbsaint
Saffron
Saba

Lunch:
Blue Oak BBQ
Parkway for poboys - bar not line
Luvi
Trenasse
St James Cheese
Domenica Pizza
Turkey and Wolf
Company Burger
Que Rico
Marjie's

Bfast:
Stanley brunch
Toast
Pagoda Cafe - hipster bfast tacos

It's not bad. Breakfast I give a wider pass to but I am one who likes District Donuts breakfast biscuits.

Give em a taste of "Da Parish" and head down to Rocky & Carlos one afternoon-----only not Sunday or Monday since they're closed those days.

Open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday

and 11 a.m. to 8:30 on Friday and Saturday

I like their po-boys much more than Parkway Bakery's stuff.
