A friend of mine who is not familiar with Baton Rouge asked me where I'd go eat. I can come up with a list of places for him to go, but hard to single out one place. What one restaurant (not fine dining) should I recommend?

Probably Mike Anderson's, while it does not get a lot of love on here I can not think of a place that represents as big of a selection of traditional louisiana cooking as well as MA

ACME and Parrains would be on the list as well

I would say Parrain's or Roux 61. They're both good louisiana seafood places. People say Parrain's quality has gone down in the past few years (which I kind of agree with) but I still think it's good. Roux 61 may be hard to get into during busy times.

I would say Parrain's particularly if they are not from Louisiana.

It's good, but meh. Especially if an out of tower is looking for "Louisiana cooking"

Doe's. Come for the steaks. Stay because you'll likely be the victim of a violent car jacking.
