I'm waiting on the new models to replace my 2013 mbp.
Hmmm... didn't even think about that. I might see if i can squeeze a few more months out of this thing and wait on a new version. It's lasted about 6-7 months since this problem first started. Lets see if we can go for 3 more months...

Another vote for individual pieces instead of a set. I also would not get any expensive non-stick.

Ive got a new macbook pro 16 that im looking to sell in baton rouge fyi.
A 16in is probably out of my price range...thanks though
Anyone have an opinion on whether to go with a pro or air? Lots of stuff I'm reading indicates that they're pretty darn similar.

If that doesn't fix the problem, then I would replace the device.
I've done this numerous times actually. Think it's time to replace. Just didn't want to go spend $1000+ on a new one without having some other opinions.
Anyone have input on whether to get the Macbook Air or Pro? Could care less about the touchbar on the pro, but is the fan worth it?? Would having better cooling with a fan improve the longevity? That'd be main reason I might spring for the pro.

I had the same laptop. Amazon has a ribbon that costs like $13. I changed it and it works again.
What's this ribbon??

Tend to agree with those saying to get a new one. Just wondering if this thing is worth trying to squeeze a few more years out of.
2012 Macbook Pro Crashing
Posted by Mr B Walker on 6/15/21 at 5:03 pm
I have a 2012 macbook pro that has started crashing and re-booting a lot recently. Sometimes it will not start up again after crashing and makes a beeping noise.
After doing a little research, the beeping noise indicates a RAM issue. Replaced the RAM about 6 months ago and it seemed to help, but now it's back to crashing a lot.
My very uneducated guess is that there is a problem with the RAM slots that are soldered to the logic board.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Any chance this could be fixed without replacing the logic board? (Costly part to replace i assume)
Is this computer worth being professionally diagnosed and repaired? Should I cut my losses and just get a new one?

I've had on/off very mild cold symptoms similar to yours for about a month now. Just chalking it up to something in the air i guess

Keep it in the freezer until your next trash pick-up day. Then throw it in the garbage

I think everyone should teach their kids - sons and daughters too - the basics of maintaining their lawn. Some valuable life skills and lessons learned there.
re: Your best Old Fashioned recipe.

Keep it simple for me.
Muddle sugar cube soaked in bitters, whiskey of your choice, stir to chill and dilute, strain over fresh ice, orange peel.
Overly sweet and addition of fruit (other than citrus peel) grinds my gears.

re: My MIL opened up a credit card in my wife’s name

OP, I think some folks in here have made a lot of good points that stood out to me. Here's a quick list of suggestions already mentioned and other good things to keep in mind.
1) Hire a lawyer and addiction counselor to help guide you.
2) Your MIL is in a desperate place and will do desperate things - things way worse than stealing money from you.
3) She might be suffering from other addictions or mental health issues. I think alcoholism should be a suspicion, and I also think you should be suspicious of her abusing drugs she has access to as a CRNA (using or selling).
4) Keep the safety and well-being of your kids #1 priority.
5) Stand by your wife. It is HER mother. Any conflict between you and your wife about this will only hurt your family more. Judging by her reaction, her mother might have a history of this or somethings similar.
6) Get your money back ASAP in one lump sum. Make no deals, payment plans, etc. Make her liquidate any assets if she doesn't have cash on hand. Make her sell cars, jewelry, furniture, etc. If you don't have your money back by MONDAY at the end of the day, I'd take full legal action.
7) She has to go to rehab or you will cut all ties. No contact via phone, mail, grandchildren, holidays, vacations, etc.

re: Isaac Toups and jambalaya with a roux....
Posted by Mr B Walker on 2/17/21 at 5:18 pm to Ignignot
I'm sure its a good dish, but I don't think you can call this jambalaya. Adding a roux makes this fundamentally different.
I think toups should have at least included a disclaimer that most people do not put a roux in their jambalaya. This could have been a good opportunity to highlight the uniqueness and variations from family to family in cajun food traditions
