Eliza. Louisiana seafood-based menu. Consistent. Always some good scenery in there too.

It gets mentioned more here, but few people IRL talk about Cafe Mimi. It’s delicious.

I’ve been meaning to go back to Maison Lacour also. See it mentioned here some, but never in person.

Wahada is another that nobody besides students seems to visit. It’s our go-to takeout.

Cafe Mimi's breakfast is simply unbeatable compared to the entire city. Their bacon egg and cheese biscuit is mind-numbing delicious.

The old and tired “went to McDonald’s afterwards” play. It was dumb in 1985 too

I love the food, but the ambiance is odd. The service tends to be formal, even a touch on the stuffy side, but the entire experience is otherwise fairly casual. Feels like a disconnect between the two that makes the experience less than what it could be.

ETA: Actually reminds me a bit of Bay Leaf in that respect.

The one time we went, the food was great but the ambiance was really awkward. It was a Thursday and relatively early (though not 5pm -- more like 6) and we were the only people in there. There was no background music, no dim lighting, no workers doing things around us... The lone lady working that waited on us just stood and kinda watched over us from afar the whole time

But I've been told that on a weekend and a little later in the evening, it isn't like this. So I'd like to go back since the food was great.

Hand's down. Besides their homemade biscuit being the best, they do something magical to that bacon. And they don't skimp you at all on it. The cheese too! It's practically oozing out of the sandwich.

I disagree. It's one of my favorite places - I've been going since the mid 90s - and while lunch is more casual, all of my dinners there over the years have been elegant and intimate. I've never felt crowded or rushed or in the least bit intruded upon by other diners or servers.
