We used to always have green onion sausage sandwiches with grilled sweet peppers. I was a fat kid back then and used to eat 2 or three of them at a time. I miss those days. What did you guys used to eat at your camp?

Every Saturday during hunting season. It taste just like it did when I was 5 years old. You have to have a biscuit doused in honey to top it off. My small family camp I like to cook a chicken fricassee or a gumbo from various wild game. The small smoker comes in handy too. Throw something like a turkey on before the hunt and it’s ready to go when you get back. Many chili dogs have been consumed as well.

Make your own shish ka bobs
Set out all the fixings on a table next to the fire
Marinated back strap, duck breast , jalapeño's, bell peppers, onions, bacon, pineapple, sausage, mushrooms, whatever

Everyone makes their own and cooks it themselves

Routee (sp?)

I like to brown off a good fresh sausage first...preferably Chourice from Joyce Market in St. Martinville...then remove, cut into 1" pieces and add back towards the end.

Serve over fresh Basmati

Black iron pot. I season all meat with different blends. Chicken thighs first, top with pork chops, then fresh green onion sausage on top. I layer all with bell pepper, onions, celery, potatoes and carrots. put lid on In oven low and slow till done.

Every year someone brings or makes chili and every year I ask them why the hell they think I want chili before sitting on the deer stand for 4 hours trying not to move or smell...lol. Then I go and eat it after a couple drinks...

I always enjoy a hearty breakfast like sausage and gravy or a big breakfast burritos after a cold morning on the stand or in the blind.

Long gravy and rice.
Go to cooler and carve back strap off of hanging deer.
Name came from stretching the gravy to feed everyone at the camp.

We have a primitive camp and keep it simple. Usually just pork chops or steak cooked over an open fire or smoked deer sausage on white bread with mustard.

Pot roasted whatever we kill.

If we shoot a bunch of snows, we’ll take the breasts, brown them, pour coffee over the top and let them cook down all day and make sandwiches with it.

Of course fried bird breast or big game meat with cream gravy and mashed potatoes.

Opening day is always a mulligan stew deer/beef/squirrel in big black pot cooked outside. Second day is always a buffalo fish fry. Ribs to the women and children, bony pieces and backbone to the men.

Beef tongue and onions in an iron pot. Mixed greek salad, bread and rice. . Teal poppers for appetizer. Maybe a mac and cheese or cheesy potato side. Was the special meal.
