The fact that you have eaten a steak at Applebee’s disqualifies you from ever being allowed to comment in a restaurant/food thread.

Highlands Bar and Grill - Birmingham
For being the recent Beard award winner, last time I as there I thought it was just average. Good but nothing great.

Per Se in NYC
Excellent.
The only dish I have had at a T. Keller restaurant that I didn't love was a tripe entree at Bouchon, but I am not the biggest fan of organ meats.
I think you will like Eleven as well, it is a true 3 star but you have to accept the tasting menu in the dining room which I find a little too open (it's freaking huge) as I like more intimate places. We both love tasting menus and I appreciate how I discover things I would have otherwise never ordered.
If you decide against Per Se you might want to try to get reservations at Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare it is currently on our NYC bucket list.

Oh, and also stay the **** away from Lusko's in Greenwood, MS. People in the Delta act like it paradise but it's a dump, bad area of a bad town and food sucks.

Cotton's in Monroe. Bar is nice but food is way over-priced and upstairs dinning atmosphere is ok but not for the $$$$ they charge.

Yeah, I'd love to try it, but my wife isn't big on seafood, and she is pregnant so raw dishes are out.
Plus we already have paid the deposit for reservations at per se.
Maybe my next wife though

Agreed. I only go for happy hour hot wings which are pretty good.
Chain food sucks.

Primanti Bros in Pittsburgh, PA. The Yens up there swear by it.

People are confusing overrated with one bad experience.

We canceled our Reservation for tonight b/c of that limited Valentines Day Menu. So we're going to Ivar's for Wings and Thursday Drink Specials(half off wine for her and $5 Absolut Doubles for me). 100% serious. Her idea. Happy Valentines Day.
What a move!

Don't get me wrong, Ruth's Chris is delicious but it's not what it's all cracked up to be.

Only on the OT will you see someone griping about the lack of a proper sommelier at a roadside catfish shack.
This is now my signature on TD. Thanks
My addition to this thread is: Both Geno's AND Pats Cheesesteaks in Philly are vastly overrated.

You sounds like a Golden Corral kind of guy.
Golden Corral at 1030 am on a Sunday ain't half bad. Get a breakfast plate and then a lunch plate.
They make decent chicken dishes for a buffet joint.

Commanders Palace
has really gone down in the past few years- small portions, fewer good selections, too much fluff

It was very good before Cory left.

Popeyes.
I heard so much shite about it from the OT that I tried it out one time and it was shite. The chicken strips looked like fish in how they flake off.

PF Chang's. While it's not a 5 star it gets a lot of hype. I didn't see much diff. b/t it and run of the mill Asian cuisine places.
The best part about PF is that it's very consistent. It's never the best imo, but you can go into any of them across the country and get good quality food each time.
