Friend,
I made a quick day trip to Seattle yesterday, and early today, because I was bored and wanted some Hachiko chicken teriyaki. It really is one of the better restaurants in Seattle, and for $14 all inclusive, you get some delicious chicken on a bed of real Japenese rice that is expertly prepared and a decent ginger salad. It is easily SEATAC Airport's best restaurant, much better than that cheese place that sells boring grilled cheese and mac-n-cheese. I hope that clear liquid is natural NOSWB tap water.
Perhaps next time you'll join me.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

Acquaintance,
I’ve only been to Seattle once. That was for the LSU/UW game. I vividly recall all the meals we feasted on were absolutely terrible. I’m not sure seasoning has ever been introduced to the northwest. The seafood was very fresh, but lacked flavor. Nothing like throwing fresh shrimp in plain water to boil. Grilled fish was about as boring as missionary sex. I left very disappointed. I think the best thing I ate the entire trip was a few hotdogs in the stadium.

Friend,
The city's reputation for great food is wildly overstated to the point that I think it's a popular pick because it has the momentum of critical acclaim. More than that, the city is geographically so far from the rest of America, it has some exotic appeal. I agree wholeheartedly with your take on the seafood there, except for the sexual comparison. As you well know, Augustine warned us of the massa pecatti should we fall to the lust of concupiscence and engage is sexual activity for the purpose of pleasure rather than procreation, its only true end, which should only be entered within the safe bonds of matrimony. The boredom that comes with illicit sex and lust, while perhaps exciting at first, is better to compare to the PNW's bland and tasteless seafood. Its purveyors seem to think that their seafood's purity and freshness are reason to leave unseasoned. It is a terrible transgression, at least to a New Orleanian, against the tastebuds Seattle, and for that matter, Portland and San Francisco, not to mention Chicago, are cities that have an overall terrible dining scene and culinary culture.

Fish taco and chicken taco. Both from frozen stuff. I would rate them subpar.

Gave up Beam?
Never. Handle a week keeps the blood pressure down.
I have two bars in the house and three wine coolers (one on each floor). The bars are in the dining area and on the “third floor” looking over the river. Beam and Costco vodka are the only two on both. I enjoy a good martini w/ pearl onions.
I’m all about efficient booze.

As for this thread, I'm about to go pick up some Cuban... me, stewed pork with rice, beans, and chimichurri... Cakes the skirt steak, medium rare, with the accoutrements. Also getting one chicken and potato and one ground beef empanada.
Pics coming, finishing my beer before i go get it.
