I’ve had a Weber Spirit 210 10/11 years. It’s been great, but I’m thinking of upgrading to a Genesis. Do y’all think it’s worth paying for the model with the stainless grates?
Is there another grill that I may should look at that’s in the $800-$1000 range?

I had a Spirit 210 for a long time. It cooked better than the $1k+ grill I have now.

If you are a member at Costco they usually have the Genesis for a good price. The new genesis drop in griddle would probably sway me.

Get cast iron Grates and consider something like this.

18.75" Cooking Grill Grates for Weber Genesis GS4 Genesis II E-410 Grates, E-415, E-435, Genesis II LX E-440 Grills,Weber Genesis II LX & II 400 Cast Iron Replacements Parts for Weber 66089 66097 7854 LINK

I have something similar on my genesis and I think they're great.

Oh and Broil King and Napoleon make good grills as well. Stick with Weber, Napoleon and Broil King.

I upgraded from a 210 to a 310. Honestly I'd just look to upgrade to the 300 or 400 series spirits. Having more space is better than whatever the genesis model will get you. IMO

Ima do a plug for Napoleon Grills real quick. I know many do not make the switch from Weber but I absolutely love my Napoleon Phantom 500

They have had two different size of stainless grates. I have the larger diameter ones and I like them. The cast iron grates today kind of suck, the old ones were way thicker.

Cast iron is the one and only way to go if you want any grill marks at all, it’s what 99% of chef’s and restaurants use.

You can probably get aftermarket cast iron for any grill that doesn’t come with it.

I have a Genesis III that is about 6 yrs. old now and it came with the cast iron grates and they are still looking great.

Matter of fact, all I've changed on the grill is when earlier this year I got 5 new flavorizer bars and replaced the battery for the ignitor.

You can often find brand new ones on FB Marketplace, because when dealers can’t sell them in-store, they or their salesmen will go to FB

I had a Spirt for many years and then upgraded to a Genesis, which I find to be a much better grill. More even heating with less hot spots for sure.

One of my best purchases was a set of Grill Grates for the Genesis. Put them on as substitutes for the original grates in 2020 and have never taken them off since. Mainly use the flat side for even browning/searing, cooking vegetables, smash burgers, etc. You can flip all or some of the grate panels over to the traditional side for killer grill marks.

Go with the Genesis and stick with the cast iron grates. I've had mine nearly 20 years and just change the flavorizer bars every couple years. I replace the grates about every 5 or 6 years. You will get every pennies worth out of it.

I have had the Spirit II for about six years. It serves my day to day purposes but I wish I had upgraded to the Genesis for that 3rd burner for higher BTU per square inch. The Spririt struggles to get over 500* for a "proper" sear on steaks.

For smoking, I flip a flavorizer bar on it's side over the left burner, put wook chunks on it, turn on burner, then put the meat on the other side with the burner off, and it makes pretty good smoked bbq that way, but you are significantly limited on how much you can cook. Two baby backs max. You can fit a third one on the top shelf but one end of it is going to be over direct heat and will be extremely overdone. It will also throw off your thermometer temp with the lid closed so close to that piece of meat. The grill be hotter than what the thermo reads. That's why I don't use the top shelf. I removed it, in fact.

I upgraded my Weber to a set of grill grates 4 years ago. LINK. Very good marks and they don't corrode at all. I just scape them with a wood plank
