You good dude. It probably doesn’t bother most folks that a Hooters and many other businesses don’t use La or even U.S seafood.
Places like Walk Ons and Acme that market themselves as Cajun or La and such should make an effort

I get the sentiment. The further you get away from here the harder it is. I would contemplate opening something back home if it was feasible

My understanding, according to Louisiana law, is if the crawfish or shrimp is imported from another country, then the menu must state such.
Hell, even DI’s in Basile had the imported designation for some of their shrimp dishes when I was there a couple weeks ago.
Tad’s in Youngsville took enough heat online a couple months back when the location opening was announced that the owner had to give a statement as to why they have their imported seafood line on their menus.

It has to be posted either on the door/windows, a sign somewhere in the restaurant or on the menus.
It doesn’t have to be specifically on the menu. In my opinion it should have to be posted where I will be reading what my food consist of.

I know there has to be lots of places that don’t list imported next to the item and they are using imported.

Health department will cite these places for not disclosing where their shrimp are from but there has never been a place fined for it. There’s no real pressure on the restaurants
It’s either have customers in an uproar over imported seafood or have them in an uproar over higher priced LA seafood menu items. I don’t think any place really wants to not sell LA stuff but with costs rising across the board some have no choice if they want to stay in business

If I remember correctly, they tried to explain that while they source domestic shrimp and crawfish whenever possible, specifically Gulf Coast sourced, due to supply issues they could not always guarantee it for 100% of the time. Therefore, they said they were obligated by law in that instance to put it on their menus.

If it just says "fish" and not "catfish", then usually it is swai from Thailand.
And it actually tastes good but I just have a hard time getting past that.

I noticed Regatta in Lake Arthur using similar wording on all their shrimp dishes, "Shimp may be imported". Which is such bullshite that they try to skirt the regulations that way, it either is or it isn't. This place is 30 miles from the Gulf as the crow flies, it's a shame they won't use LA shrimp.
