Venezia ramifying to Rivertown, Kenner

Friends,
It has been 13 years since Venezia was the main subject of discussion on the Food Board. Even when Venezia opened its second location on the West Bank it was not mentioned. Uncle, though, just texted me and informed me that Venezia’s third location will be in the old Gendusa’s in Rivertown by the airport. Gendusa’s is still open in the old Messina’s farther north on Williams.
It is good to see Kenner get some decent restaurants. For a time, besides Harbor and Kenner Seafood it was very slim pickings. I know that our fried Powerman enjoyed the Asian and Latin options, but they did not appeal that much to me. The acquisition of an old favorite like Venezia is a major food story for Kenner. Perhaps we could arrange a Food Board gathering there in December.

I actually enjoyed Gendusa's. It comes off like you did not like it.
Venezia's is good though.

Are they moving to the old Rivertown location of Gendusa's or the new location in the old Messina's building near Vets and Williams?

Venizia's is good, new orleans style italian food, but it is more about the experience when visiting the the location in new orleans. I am not sure how that will translate to a kennah brah location, so the food will need to step up to the plate on this one.
And, kennah brah has amazing hispanic and latin foods, and other ethnic options, along with some solid seafood options. Expand your palate more for more refined dining experiences.

Brick Oven is pretty good in Kenner Di Pierro was great but no one went.
Kenner is a Latin food mecca. (Not Mexican) but I agree most options for regular dining are chains. Olive Garden is the busiest restaurant in the city.
I have had Venezia a few times but having recently moved to mid city i haven't been back yet. I really like Mandinas and Liuzzas too so just haven't made it to Venezia.
What's interesting about this was Gendusas recently opened a second location. Said the original was going to be a pizza spot. Then on the 11th of this month Gendusas said they were going to reopen after a slight remodel. Then a week later this comes out and Gendusa is retiring.
Though last week there was a scathing review of his restaurant on Facebook and no one was really defending it. Maybe he just saw the decline and decided to lease his building to Venezia.

If Venezia’s is going to the smaller Rivertown spot, what is happening with the new place Gendusa’s moved to in the old Messina’s building? They haven’t been there eight months and don’t even have a permanent sign up yet.

i went to the original venezia over the summer and it was awful. it somehow tasted both cheap and old at the same time. pizza was a puddle of grease and the veal parm tasted microwaved

Oh and both are closed. He is going to be sued by Messinas over the lease he just signed and already wants out of.

I truly don't understand why he closed the Rivertown Gendusa's. He always had a good crowd, there was a substantial wait on weekends. Maybe the two burger joints cut into his crowd too much. I will say I prefer Rivershack to Ground Patti, but it was nice having three options in case one is more crowded. I welcome Venezias I always liked their garlic bread back in the day.

Hate to hear that. I've not been in a good while even though I live no more than a mile from the place and have dined there several times in the past.
My wife loves the veal and I usually opt for their Eggplant Vatican. They both come with pasta and covered in a cream sauce that we've found to be very good.
Guess we need to head over there soon to check it out for ourselves. Hopefully, we won't be disappointed.

I truly don’t understand why he closed the Rivertown Gendusa’s.
Gendusa’s may have been the best restaurant in Rivertown since Le Parvenu closed years ago but the other two have live music.

I work around the corner, so I’m excited. Venezia is one of my favorites in Nola. Gendusas has been spotty at best since the moves.

Ah yes, more prominent location
So he left the constantly packed area of Rivertown for a random place in strip mall hell on Williams by Vets that nobody even looks at or knows exists
