I’ve searched multiple times through the few threads and noticed there hasn’t been one since 2017.
I’ll kick it off with Dominique’s Stockyard Cafe, great meat loaf.
Don Bergeron’s is good but a little pricy for a plate lunch… then again it’s ‘22 and inflation is a bitch
Bergeron’s in port Allen used to be good, now it’s slipped off

Stockyard Cafe is still the best but I do like Don Bergeron's too.

The Porch Light Grill In Prairieville is pretty good.

I hit up Bergeron's on Jefferson at least twice per week

George's Southside used to have pretty solid daily plates. Haven't been in a few years, though. Entree of hamburger steak/mashed taters + gravy and 2 sides was my favorite.

Same - more like 3-4 times per week. I work from home and live very close so its just so easy. I go there every Friday for their fried catfish (best in city IMO), love their Zapps Chicken, and gumbo. My favorite side from there is the broccoli rice.

I hear David's Tiger Express on Joor has terrific plate lunches. Like legit, serious plate lunches. Not convenience store shite.

David’s is solid. New bbq place opened up right down from them in the gas station at Joor and Lovett. Everything I’ve had from them has been really good.
ETA: Big Butts BBQ.

Sides have really gone downhill in the last few years.
Had a plate from there the other day and the green beans were straight from a can and the mac and cheese had zero flavor.

Their pot roast on Tuesdays is very good. And they'll make it into a poboy with cheese for you if you want.

Last few times I went to Bergeron's in Port Allen it had really went down hill.

Their red beans on mondays used to be pretty good. Haven’t been over there in years though. Honestly all their food was pretty good.

Is this a legit post or someone cracking a joke?
I live on that side of town so it wouldn’t be far from me to go. Scary street but during the day it’s not too bad.
What is good?

If they are still open yes.. home cookin, soul food type of place. Back in the day they literally just had a bunch of old house stoves/ovens in the place with no walls between the kitchen, and dining area. Couple of old ladies in there cooking it up.
There was also a place called Edna’s sunrise cafe on N Acadian Thruway that was awesome!!! Again, not sure if they are still around or not. She made chicken cracklins that were awesome!!!
