Lowest I have seen was $.98/ pound for a frozen whole Butterball.
This was at Wal-Mart. I don’t live in Louisiana.

That's what I saw as well in NJ. That price for frozen at Aldi's, Wild Fork, ShopRite.

Like it matters. Turkey once a year can go to 10 dollars a pound.

Spend $ 75 at Albertsons and its free . I'll swap mine for a bottle of scotch .

Doing something this year that I've never done before - getting a pasture raised bird.
Not really because I seek that kind of thing out; more because a good friend raised a small flock and I wanted to buy one from him.
It's one of these guys. Not sure which one.
$75 and he is as apologetic for the price... have no problem with it because he has about $50 in them already.
So I guess about $6/pound.
I'm curious about whether I can tell a difference. I've always been happy with grocery store birds.

We drove the Natchez trace yesterday and I almost bagged three. They were flying across the roadway and almost failed to get enough altitude. Barely cleared the roof of my Silverado. If I drove a fourwheeler with big tires (which I don't) I would have got me two or three nice hens. I'd prefer a butterball since the domestic guys have more meat than the wild version.
All in all, we probably saw thirty plus turkeys, most like all employees of the National Park System. I bet we saw twice that many deer, and I was surprised that I saw no armadillos. One trip down we saw between twenty and thirty of those cute little critters. Missed seeing a ranger, too.

They were 79¢ a pound at Giant Eagle on Friday. Plenty in stock.

I smoked a pasture raised turkey last year, and it was the best tasting turkey I've ever had. By far.

Saw Greenwise frozen whole turkeys for $.49/ pound at Publix through 11/15.
