Do the people in SC chew the BBQ in their own mouths before plating.

That looked gross

If you're referring to the plate from Hite's, that stuff on top of the bed of rice is hash. It is supposed to look like that.

Bad Wolf in Ruston is easily the best BBQ in LA

I don’t know if Bad Wolf is best in the state, I haven’t eaten at any of the places lately in BR NO area. He s the best in northla. He’s a cool guy too. Worked the oil fields in west tex and had a month of vacation when he left. He loved bbq so he travelled all over Texas and met with pitmasters at some of the best places in central Texas. He will tell you if you ask he is central Texas style bbq. If you are near Ruston you should give him a shot if you like great brisket.

I travel West Tennessee for work. Closest I get to Lexington is Jackson. Is it worth the drive from Jackson? Don’t think it’s too far.

As an LA-expat and TX BBQ aficionado, it sure looks like he's doing it right.

didn't last long in BR

Not exactly a BBQ town

And I'd say in general a decent but not great restaurant town. But I've had some really good home cooked meals in BR.

And goes without saying but the tailgating food at LSU is by far the best you'll get in any college football venue

That is also hash (on top of the rice). Most of you have probably never run across it before. It is mostly only found in SC and the eastern side of GA, in the Savannah river area.

I had Central BBQ leaving Memphis en route to Oxford this weekend. We loved it. Don’t have too many good options in So Fla though. Shorty’s is still good.

Is The Shed still good in S. Mississippi?

That’s some weak looking hash. Watery looking, from the pic.

I haven’t even been to Rodney Scott’s yet because every time we want some BBQ I can’t find a reason to go anywhere else.

Rodney’s is hit or miss. I’ve been there a couple of times, haven’t been impressed. Pulled pork tasted like it was cooked on propane, not wood. I’ve talked to several people who’ve had the same experience, sometimes you can taste smoke, usually not.

Seems like I remember you saying you live downtown. Jump over to James Island, Dukes has a buffet. The pork tastes just like Rodney’s, but they have hash, good fried chicken, pork rinds, pretty good sides. Daily special on the buffet, only day I go is Thursday’s for chicken livers and gizzards.

I limit myself to once every 3-4 months.

Andrew is a great guy and has some good momentum at Bad Wolf. Just recently took home some awards from LA Food & Wine Festival in Lake Charles as well.

I like it fine but many don’t. The food is decent and it’s a great place to hang out especially if there’s a band
