re: The Shed BBQ coming To BR

he other Sheds that opened were franchises. They were not set up properly to franchise and weren't really screening the franchisees. That combined with the BP spill had a lot to do with those locations closing. This will be a partnership where they will be more involved in the operations. To say their food sucks is laughable. The positive response has been tremendous and it is from people who have eaten there.

So their food will be up to the same standards as the original one in Ocean Springs? This changes everything…….

All of these Texas places y’all are talking about are the same. They are established, they have the same customers, and they aren’t trying to be brand new.
So, what does it take for a NEW barbecue place in Texas to make it? Maybe that would be the model for Baton Rouge?
This place Just got ranked #1 in the Texas Monthly, which is a huge thing there. They've been in business since 2013 so they are relatively new. It seem like most got their start at Franklins so maybe the new thing is really the old like you said.

Goldee’s has not been in business since 2013. Not sure who you are confusing them with. Part of the reason they are #1 is everything is made in house. They waste nothing, it’s all dedication. The entire group has a great pedigree, but they are the nicest group of young people you could ever meet. Long hour days and late nights is what it takes.
To the other poster asking what would it take for a new bbq place to make it, see my previous post about a place like CM Smokehouse in Austin. He’s located in a beer garden with pickle ball courts and a dog park. Will serve traditional sliced brisket and such if you request, everything else is a “bar type food.” He does pork crispito tacos that are excellent, his crunch wrap was awesome, wings, burgers, sandwiches. That’s what I think a place around here needs. Something more than just lunch.

Seems a lot of posters agree that a BBQ place in Baton Rouge doesn’t get a lot of support.
If I had to guess. It's because good BBQ is too expensive. Even at pre-panemic prices.

Did you click the link? Of course you didn't! It's right there on the website.

Lane Milne, Dylan Taylor, and Jonny White have been in the world of central Texas style barbecue since being introduced in 2013. In the 7 years since, they have worked for 8 of the top 50 Texas Monthly Top 50 barbecue restaurants and trained under the best pit masters in the nation. By teaching classes and hosting pop ups on their free days, Lane, Dylan, and Jonny saved up money to open their own spot. Goldee's Barbecue, named after the old, golden Ford F-250 used to pull around their first pit, is the result of their labor of love and countless hours spent after work experimenting with new variations of classic side dishes, and dialing in on timeless smoking methods.

I don't need to read the article. I know them personally and visit/work at the restaurant a few times a year. They have been working in BBQ restaurants since 2013 as a group when they moved to Austin (at different restaurants), but Goldee's did not open until 2020 right before the pandemic. Heck, they are all under 30 years old. So that would make it impossible.

I stand corrected but them not opening until 2020, really drives home the point I was trying to Make.

BR has a lack of decent BBQ outside of Hannah s
Best BBQ in BR area is in Denham Springs.
Smokin' Aces.
It used to be that place off Coursey Boulevard, but I'm not sure whatever happened to ownership / take over or even if that place is still open.

Personally, I don’t want to go eat at a volleyball court.
I mean. I doubt they are going to be keeping the volleyball courts and making it a volleyball court/bbq joint.

spent the night in ocean springs last night and went to eat/see show at the shed. Can’t remember when I’ve had so much fun
the place is great. Food is OK but certainly enjoyable and it’s such a fun place to hang. I really hope they can somewhat replicate it in BR

Is the location in Ocean Springs a franchise? Because that's the only one I've been to, and yes, it plain sucked.

Since it’s BR, will get rave reviews and be packed.

While it’s not my favorite, it’s a step up for BR. BRQ, TJs, voodoo, etc all suck
