They call it “That Pub on Sherwood”

It’s on FB. Maybe things will get better for them. They’ve had a tough go of it lately.

The name was definitely the LAST thing wrong with that place.

The biggest problem was the location. Sherwood was a constant clusterf$&k even before the roadwork started.

Bummed to hear about their tough times.

Always enjoyed going there for soccer matches. Only problem is that it's pretty far out of the way (from LSU) to get drunk at 8am

I haven't been since Luke was outed.

Even when I lived nearby, I hardly went outside of Sunday trivia occasionally.

Every time I've been it's had a crowd, so it's news to me that they aren't doing well... That concept can work here in a better location. Place would make a killing near the overpass

Moved away a little over 5 years ago but I really enjoyed The Londoner when I was still down there. Hate to hear of struggles.

Other than the terrible delay in construction, there’s no reason they can’t do fine there. And by the overpass has plenty of spots, only so many $$$ to go around.

They should change up there menu a little if the concept changes.

They don’t need to be Chimes, though.

Does the Smiling Dog (upstairs bar) do well? Location is odd since it’s too far from campus and doesn’t seem to attract the people who work in that area during the week.

They allow dogs on the patio and we lived within walking distance so it was a nice place to stop for a pint during the dog walk. I used to get in there for Sunday trivia too.

i dont know if its matter of the doing fine or not

from FB
Funny story.....

We lost our name!!!!

After being in business for almost nine years, we have been told that we are no longer allowed to use the name of our pub. Who would have thought that a handshake deal would not be honored after nine years?

We will have to change things up a bit in order to satisfy the powers that be.Until we can come up with a decent name, we will refer to our pub as "That Pub on Sherwood" and no longer use the name of a fairly big city in England. We will continue operating as normal and hopefully have everything sorted in no time. While we do so come by and enjoy a hearty meal or a pint. If you have any name suggestions leave them in the comments but we will definitely not be naming it Pubby McPubface.

Cheers!

Why would a bar need to be by campus? There are bars everywhere. Not trying to be condescending, but plenty of bars exist without a campus nearby.

From what I know they do well and attract a mid 20s early 30s crowd

This should become a rename thread:
The Spotted Dick
The OT Lounge
The Soccer Board
The Berliner
The Travel Baller

I’d think if they lost the franchise name, likely due to slowing sales, in part because of construction/poor roads/changing demographics/etc, they aren’t in the “best of times”...

Just a theory. I wish them the best. Sherwood needs that place.

I can get behind this.

The Londoner is a chain and I guess the home office said to pay up or lose the name.

Doesn’t NEED to be by campus, but it surely wouldn’t hurt to have a place that serves food and has an upstairs bar near a campus with 30,000 people.

That's pretty dumb. "The Londoner" is a cool name.

I got a laugh out of the owner crying on the news about the Sherwood repaving debacle saying it was hurting his business. I laughed and said yeah that's why people aren't going to the Londoner.

The place was pretty stale and not that great.

The name was pretty cool, though.

That bar is the GOAT get home without a DUI bar thanks to its location. You can get right into Lake Sherwood and use the neighborhoods to get home.

I think the location isn’t the greatest but what about it makes it stale?

The food is just okay relative to the price point, but it has a fairly unique menu for the city, so I give it a pass.
