You know, most students are not old enough to drink.

A lot of students go to Chimes to eat and get a couple beers, then go out to Tigerland/Bogies/etc after

I agree. The pre drinking party was usually at someone’s house and then you would go to the bars.

I turned 21 in 2001 and was at the Chimes multiple times a week... with other students.

Maybe it was just a different crowd. The first time I ever went to Fred's was the day I graduated.

I think it also has to do with where you live in relation to campus. If you live at the north gates, I’m sure those students go more than students living in brightside

Yea that's just different crowds. I went to Fred's the second day in BR before classes even started freshmen year.

Like Paul said, drink at someone's place then go out. Food was just something thrown in because we have to eat

Shiiit I could barely afford a couple cheap drinks at Bogies let alone food at The Chimes. The Chimes was where I'd go if my dad was paying. I never went there on my own dime unless for a hot date.

I’ve gone for bunch a few times and they’re pretty busy and I’ve even the few others time I’ve been on random days even though they weren’t slammed it’s never empty. Not sure where people say they’re doing bad. I can think of plenty of other places in town that are a lot slower and I’m mind boggled on how they remain open.

I like the brunch and they have a particular burger that is outstanding, but outside of that the menu is pretty meh.

Don't the Hunan people own it? Ever since I saw a completely disgusting looking dude walk out of the kitchen and found out he was their main cook, I quit eating there. That was all back when Luke was there. I haven't been in a couple of years. I never liked the soccer fans there, cuz they're pretty disgusting & weird af as well.

Had cocktails at the bar with Rag (rip ) a couple of times at the Londoner

Place seems like a Tinder Box waiting to go up in flames.

I vote the new name to be "The Blue Peter"

I think a factor is whether you’re from BR or not. I went to Chimes in college but I am from BR and had friends/dated people also from BR who were not in college. I lived at home and had a job.

The average college student from out of town doesn’t work (parents seem to be big on having them focus on school) so their money only goes so far. Short order places seem to be where they do.

Also, like someone mentioned, most college students can’t drink.

I go to Chimes all the time. It’s definitely not filled with college students.

I'm pretty much the opposite of that.

Well, I'm from BR, but I grew up 3rd-12th outside of Houston. And I worked, sometimes up to 3 jobs... cash tips paid for many beers.

When I turned 21 I definitely went to chimes but generally on a weekday or Friday right after class. Tried to do the around the world but it was costing way to much especially since I liked to go to a lot of road football games.

When I turned 21 I went Around the World at the Chimes twice! It was awesome but I’m still paying for it today. Student loans are the most expensive beers I’ve ever drank. But I have my name on the wall twice! Still kicking myself in the arse.
