i ate there recently and really enjoyed it. the brisket is solid (moist, fatty) - reminds me of texas style brisket and i really like their smoked chicken as it has a great flavor.

is this the best bbq place in the baton rouge area? i just happen to stumble upon it while out for work.

wasn't too busy for lunch, hoping they are doing well to keep open as i plan to continue to go back.

This the same place that used to be in that little shack on government next to BRCC? If it is, I remember it being some of the better BBQ in baton rouge 7-8ish years ago. I do remember them leaving that spot, but it would make sense they went bigger.

before my time getting here but it seems to be a really good place. the employees were nice, the food was hot and fresh and i remember enjoying the sides of fried okra and macaroni and cheese (nothing spectacular but at least prepared in-house and not kraft).

It was previously on Government street near the Garden District a few years ago across from a ghetto gas station.

I ate there a few times years ago when they were on government. Overall, it was average but wasn’t great, but that was years ago. I wish them the best and hope they cook amazing bbq.

I have been pleasantly surprised by Jim's Texas Smokehouse in Baker. Probably the best barbecued chicken I've had. Their ribs are on point too. I can't recommend their brisket - of course I just don't eat brisket outside of Texas. I get a half-chicken there (just chicken) for $7.

Ate there once and the brisket was great. That’s the only meat I tried.

I rotate with BBQ places until I have a subpar experience.

First I was all on Smokin Aces, but it's a bit further from my house so we stopped going. Food was always really good though.

Then it was Hannah Q, but man after two very subpar meals by them where it was clear they gave us old BBQ, they are off the list.

Now it's Bayou Smokehouse on Coursey, which has been excellent the few times I've been.

We did have Smokin Aces a few weeks ago because Bayou Smokehouse was closed. I got the rib plate, and the ribs were so massive I could only eat half, and ate the other half the next day. Food was delicious as well.

Between cooking myself, Smokin Aces, and Bayou Smokehouse; I feel there's always an option for good BBQ

I haven’t tried bayou smokehouse yet. I have eaten at Hannah Q and I didn’t care for their bbq at all. too many sauce options to start and I really like my meat to have flavor instead of the sauce.

the only thing I really liked at Hannah Q is their smoked wings. those were very good in addition to their brisket quesadillas (brisket is subpar but everything else on quesadilla makes up for it).

Does anyone know if Garden District bbq is ever coming back? Loved the ribs.
