Tres Agaves is about $30, and is pretty good. I don't drink a whole lot of tequila but its better than most I've had

1800 is good but probably a little more than what I would call cheap

Espolon is my go to always on hand tequila, but to be honest I've found the Trader Joe's brand tequila to be good for a low end bottle. It's better than a lot of popular low end names like Jose Cuervo or even Patron.

Kirkland Anjeo is good.

It's overlooked by many, but I really like Sauza Blanco as a mixing tequila. Also, the Sauza Anjeo is a solid intro into aged tequilas without spending too much. And it's cheap enough to mix without feeling like you're wasting it.

eta: Also, one really interesting thing about tequila is that every bottle must be labelled with an Origin Number or NOM. With that you can look up which distillery made the tequila to see what else they make there. Of course, that doesn't mean they use the same recipe for each product but it does give you an idea.

Based on a google, the NOM for Trader Jose's tequila is 1143 which is Destiladora Gonzalez Gonzalez, S.A. de C.V. They also make Member's Mark tequila for Sam's Club.

I find it pretty hard to beat for $28 a handle, pretty easy to sip on.

El Jimador is my go-to cheap tequila. Others to consider are Espolon and Cazadores.

This is an old thread but my recco holds
