Is it good? Driving in to go eat there with friends. Suggestions?

The squid ink tagliolini is good, their risottos are usually really good. I always start with a charcuterie and cheese board. I’ve had a pork chop that was a special there that was outstanding.
ETA: this was all from when Shaya was still running the kitchen, but I’m sure it’s still solid.

The pizzas are good. Lasagna is good, if you don't mind the green noodles. They used to have a pasta dish that had like an oxtail ragu and fried chicken livers that was awesome, but I think they took it off the menu.
And nice selection of meats and cheeses if you wanted to do a charcuterie board.

My suggestion is to go to the sazerac bar before or after. Domenica is not bad, but nothing special either.

The best thing is the roasted Whole cauliflower. I ripped it off years ago and make it often.

The whipped feta is the only thing that makes the cauliflower good.

Chicken liver pate for app
Banana Zuppa for dessert
Ate there on last month. Their pizzas were best they’ve ever been.

The black pasta is good
Also the pizza with an egg on it

I agree. I like most everything there minus the squid ink pastas. But I had no idea cauliflower could be that good until I had it there. It’s a $20 head of cauliflower. Like a $5 milkshake I don’t know if it’s worth it... but it’s pretty fricking good.

I poach it in chicken stock since I rarely have a half of bottle of white wine then put it under the broiler with sea salt and olive oil until it’s almost black. Can do it on a very hot green egg too. Man it’s good. And I put cayenne or Aleppo pepper in the goat cheese. Works well.

I like Domenica. Excluding the French Quarter, it is my favorite restaurant within walking distance to the Superdome. We usually end up there when the Saints are playing a night game.

Top 5 Italian Foods in America - #1: Domenica — New Orleans
quote:
You'll find the most-stunning lasagna at Domenica in New Orleans. Chef-Owner Alon Shaya's Lasagne Bolognese starts with parsley-infused pasta sheets. His meat sauce features pork, beef and pancetta as well as red wine for flavor. He layers the pasta and meat sauce with bechamel, Parmesan and mozzarella to create seven layers before it's all baked until bubbly and brown.
